4. Consignes de sécurité
Tout dommage résultant d'un non-respect des présentes instruc-
tions a pour effet d'annuler la garantie. Nous déclinons toute res-
ponsabilité pour les dommages consécutifs !
De même, le constructeur n'assume aucune responsabilité en cas
de dommages matériels ou corporels résultant d´un montage et
d'une utilisation de l'appareil non conformes aux spécifications
ou d'un non-respect des présentes instructions. De tels cas ont
pour effet d'annuler la garantie.
Pour des raisons de sécurité et d'homologation, toute transformation
ou modification arbitraire du produit sont interdites.
Le produit appartient à la classe de protection 2. Comme source de
tension pour l´alimentation enfichable, utiliser uniquement une prise de
courant en état de marche (230V/50Hz) connectée au réseau d'ali-
mentation public.
Le produit est conçu uniquement pour être utilisé dans des locaux
intérieurs clos et secs. Eviter impérativement tout contact avec l'humi-
dité !
Ne jamais toucher les blocs d´alimentation enfichables avec les mains
mouillées sous peine de s'exposer à un risque d'électrocution mortel-
le.
Si un bloc d´alimentation enfichable devait être endommagé, ne tou-
chez pas le bloc secteur. Mettez auparavant la prise de courant hors
circuit en activant par ex. les coupe-circuits automatiques correspon-
dants. Débrancher le bloc d´alimentation de la prise de courant !
Ne jamais laisser l´appareil en marche sans surveillance.
Les appareils électriques ne doivent pas se trouver à portée de mains
des enfants. Faites preuve de la plus grande prudence en présence
d'enfants qui pourraient essayer d´introduire des objets à l'intérieur de
l'appareil par les orifices du boîtier. Risque d'électrocution mortel!
Ne laissez pas traîner le matériel d'emballage sans surveillance. Les
films et les sachets en matière plastique, les pièces en polystyrène,
etc. peuvent se transformer en jouets dangereux pour les enfants.

8. Tips and Notices
• For operation with 1394, we recommend the use of Windows XP (or at least Win-
dows ME). For Windows 98SE (Second Edition), a DV update from Microsoft is
required in order to be able to work with DV camcorders.
• The hard disk in your PC should not be too small for recording a DV signal. Data
quantities of 3.5 Mbytes occur per second with a DV signal (audio and video).
This also makes higher demands on the configuration of the hard disk, the PC and
the operating system.
• We recommend using a separate hard disk for DV data (this may also be an exter-
nally connected 1394 or USB2.0 hard disk).
• The so-called „DMA" mode of the hard disk(s) internally connected to an IDE con-
troller of the PC's mainboard must be activated (which is normally automatically
the case with Windows XP, with older Windows versions, you have to activate this
manually in the device manager).
• The speed of the CPU and the amount of memory required depends on the soft-
ware you want to use for recording and editing.
However, a computer with 2 GHz and 512 Mbytes should provide sufficient
reserves in any case.
Depending on the operating system used and the file system used to format the
hard disk, there is a certain maximum size that an individual file may/can achieve.
There are three common file systems:
FAT16:
Windows 95, 98, 98SE, ME, 2000
Maximum file size 2 GByte (approx. a 9-minute video)
FAT32:
Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP
Maximum file size 4 GByte (approx. a 18-minute video)
NTFS:
Windows 2000, XP
Maximum file size depends on the size of the partition.
The applied software may also restrict the maximum size of an individual file.
