• If the LED for bike symbol (3) lights up, the maximum charging current supplied to the
battery is 0.8 A. This setting applies to 1.2 to 14 Ah batteries (e.g. motorcycle lead-gel,
lead-acid or lead-fleece batteries). Charging end voltage makes 14.4 V.
• If the LED for vehicle symbol (4) lights up, the maximum charging current supplied
to the battery is 3.8 A. This setting applies to 14 to 120 Ah batteries (e.g. motorcycle
lead-gel, lead-acid or lead-fleece batteries) at ambient temperatures exceeding 10 °C.
Charging end voltage makes 14.4 V.
• If the LED for snowflake symbol (5) lights up, the maximum charging current supplied
to the battery is 3.8 A. This setting applies to 14 to 120 Ah batteries (e.g. motorcycle
lead-gel, lead-acid or lead-fleece batteries) at ambient temperatures below 10 °C. Here,
charging end voltage makes 14.7 V. Use this charger programme exclusively at low
temperatures, otherwise the connected batteries may be overloaded and damaged.
3. Attach the charging cable adapter with the alligator clips to the charging cable until it
engages (6). This connector system (as well as the charging adapter with the fuse for
permanent connection) is non-polar and may only be brought together in one position.
To disconnect, you need to push the red rocker at the adapter (7) a bit inwards on the
charger cable side and than release the connection. Now attach the red alligator clip to
the plus pole, and the black alligator clip to the minus pole of the battery.
Instead of alligator clips for mobile application you can also use charger cable adapter
with fuse for permanent connection with the battery in the vehicle. For this purpose, at-
tach the black cable with ring cable lug to minus pole, and the red cable with ring cable
lug - to the battery to be charged. Exercise great care to avoid short circuits and ensure
reliable contact.
A 10 A fuse with fuse holder is built into this permanent connection adapter under rub-
ber casing. The possible reason why the charging process won't start can be the failure
of this fuse. In this case replace the fuse and check cabling.
Make sure that neither the charger nor the connections of the charger cable are
exposed to humidity in case of permanent connection. When installed (permanent con-
nection in a vehicle), operation of the charger is permissible only in dry indoor spaces
(e.g. in a garage).
If the charger is not connected to the mains, a low return current flows, which dis-
charges the battery. Therefore, the permanent connection is only recommended for the
vehicles, which are in motion and charged regularly. The charger has two screw holes
on the bottom of the housing for installation in a vehicle.
4. If the battery is connected, not defective (tristated/disconnected) and connected
to the mains, charging process starts automatically after a few seconds. The LED
"CHARGE" (8) lights up.
Never press the "Mode" button (2) during the charging process, as it would change
the charging programme and thereby the charging current and end voltage. This
may lead to corruption of the connected battery. There is also a risk of explosion of
the battery!
Duration of the charging process is different. In case of big batteries with capacity e.g.
above 120 Ah, charging process may take several days depending on the state of the
battery (old or new; flat or deep discharged etc.).
If the open-circuit voltage of a 12 V battery is in the range from 3.0 to 10.5 V, the
charging process begins with a special refreshing programme (pulse charging). As
soon as the battery voltage exceeds 10.5 V again, the charger switches over to the
normal charging mode. If the open circuit voltage of a 12 V rechargeable battery is
under 3,0 V, the LED for the Standby indicator (1) lights up and the charging device
does not start the charging process. Batteries with too low open-circuit voltage
(deep discharged) are usually damaged to the extent excluding the possibility of
recharging.
As soon as the battery is fully charged, the "CHARGE" LED (8) goes out and the "FULL"
LED (9) switches on. The charger supplies only little current to the battery for trickle charging
(trickle charging).
5. Complete the charging process as soon as the "FULL" (9) switches on. For this purpose,
remove the battery from the charger and remove the power plug out of the mains outlet.

PROTECTIVE DEVICES

a) Reverse polarity protection
The charger has an integral reverse polarity protection. If the charger is connected to a
battery with reversed polarity, the LED of error indication (10) lights up. Check polarity of the
battery and connection cable.
b) Spark protection
The charger is still disabled at the moment of connection to a battery. Therefore, when the
charger is connected to the battery no sparks appear as with conventional chargers due to
charge equalisation. After connection, the charge level of the battery is checked first. The
charging process starts only after this check of the connected battery.
c) Overtemperature protection
The charger has an integrated overtemperature protection, which decreases the charging
current automatically if the temperature of the charger rises too high. As soon as internal
temperature drops, the charging process will continue in normal mode.
d) Housing protection class
The charger housing features protection class is IP 65 and serves to protect charger
electronic components integrated in the housing from dust and humidity. The plug and con-
nections do not comply with this standard. Thus, the charger is approved for operation in dry,
closed rooms only.
DISPOSAL
a) Product
The product must not be disposed of in the household waste.
Please dispose of the product, when it is no longer of use, according to the current
statutory requirements.
b) Rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all spent rechargeable
batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited.
Batteries/rechargeable batteries containing hazardous substances are labelled
with the symbol shown to indicate that disposal in household waste is forbidden.
The symbols of the critical heavy metals are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead
(the marking can be seen on the battery/rechargeable battery, e.g. underneath the
refuse bin symbol shown on the left).
You can return used rechargeable batteries free of charge to any collection facility in your
local authority, to our stores or to any other store where rechargeable batteries are sold. In so
doing you will fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environ-
ment.
