Changing the Application Tools (see figure A)
 Actuate the spindle lock button only when the sander
spindle is at a standstill. Otherwise, the machine may be-
come damaged.
 Use only carbide cup wheels with a flat
sanding surface.
– Clean the sander spindle 14 and all parts to be mounted.
– To clamp and loosen the application tool, lock the sander
spindle with the spindle lock button 3.
– To fix the application tool (sanding plate, wire brush, per-
forator, cup wheel, backing pad, etc.), screw the mounting
flange 15 onto the sander spindle 14 and tighten the
mounting flange with the two-pin spanner 17.
– Attach the desired application tool to the sander spindle
14.
– Screw on the clamping nut 16 and tighten it with the two-
pin spanner 17.
Pay attention that the collar of the clamping nut 16 faces away
from the machine, as shown in the figure.
– To remove the application tool, use the two-pin spanner
17 to loosen the clamping nut 16 and unscrew it from the
sander spindle 14. Pull the application tool off the sander
spindle.
Mounting the Backing Pad
 Actuate the spindle lock button only when the sander
spindle is at a standstill. Otherwise, the machine may be-
come damaged.
Special backing pads have to be mounted for polishing or for
sanding with fibre sanding discs.
– Clean the sander spindle 14 and all parts to be mounted.
– To clamp and loosen the application tool, lock the sander
spindle with the spindle lock button 3.
– Screw the backing pad 38 or 40 onto the sander spindle
14 until the backing pad is firmly against the sander spin-
dle flange at the end of the sander spindle thread.
– Polishing:
Tighten the backing pad 38 with an open-end spanner.
Sanding with fibre sanding discs:
Centre the fibre sanding disc 41 on the backing pad 40 and
screw it in place with the round nut 42. Tighten the round
nut 42 with the two-pin spanner 17.
Changing the Brush Segments (see figure B)
The individual brush segments 43 of the wire brush 32 can be
replaced when worn.
– Always replace the complete set of brush segments 43,
otherwise imbalance can generate vibration and shorten
the lifetime of the application tool.
You can also equip the wire brush 32 with a mixture of mate-
rials (e.g. half plastic, half brass). When doing so, it is impor-
tant that the brush segments 43 are distributed evenly and al-
ternately.
Work only with a completely equipped wire brush 32.

– Insert the narrow end of the hook wrench 18 into the inner
recess of the wire brush 32 and push the brush segment
43 outwards.
– Slide the new brush segment 43 correctly into the slot of
the wire brush 32 until you hear it engage.

Dust Extraction

 Dusts from materials such as lead-containing coatings,
some wood types, minerals and metal can be harmful to
one's health. Touching or breathing-in the dusts can cause
allergic reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of
the user or bystanders.
Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust, are considered
as carcinogenic, especially in connection with wood-treat-
ment additives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials
containing asbestos may only be worked by specialists.
– Always use dust extraction.
Operate the power tool either with the dust container
23 or with a dust class M vacuum cleaner.
– Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the mate-
rials to be worked.
 Only use vacuum hoses as intended for by Bosch. Do not
manipulate the vacuum hose. When rocks or chunks of
stone/masonry are drawn into the vacuum hose, cease
work and clean the vacuum hose immediately. Prevent the
vacuum hose from being bent or creased.
Mounting the Vacuum Hose (see figures C1–C2)
Recommendation: Perform dust extraction using the sup-
plied vacuum hose 19 or a static vacuum hose (accessory).
– Insert the vacuum hose 19 into the vacuum connection 8
until both snap-fasteners 20 of the vacuum hose engage.
– To disassemble, turn the vacuum hose 19 and the vacuum
connection 8 against each other slightly and then pull the
components apart.
Integrated Dust Extraction (see figures D1 – D2)
The fan wheel 13 built into the handpiece 1 sucks the re-
moved material into the dust container 23.
– Insert the vacuum hose 19 into the hose connection piece
27 of the dust container 23 until both snap-fasteners of
the vacuum hose engage.
The filling level of the dust container 23 can easily be checked
due to the transparent container.
Note: In order to ensure optimum dust extraction, empty the
dust container 23 in good time and clean the filter element 30
regularly (see "Cleaning the Dust Container and Filter Ele-
ment", page 31).
– To disassemble, turn the vacuum hose 19 slightly in the
hose connection piece 27 and then pull the vacuum hose
off.
