– Remove dirt and dust from the backing pad 38, e.g. with a
paintbrush, before attaching a new foam disc.
– Centre the foam disc 39 on the backing pad 38 and press
it on firmly.
Thoroughly clean the surface of the material being worked be-
tween each polishing step.
Transport and Storage (see figure J)
– Detach the vacuum hose 19 from the vacuum connection 8:
To disassemble, turn the vacuum hose 19 and the vacuum
connection 8 against each other slightly and then pull the
components apart.
– Wrap the vacuum hose 19 around the dust container 23.
When doing so, wrap the vacuum hose twice around the
open holder 29 and insert the loose end into the closed
part of the holder 29.
– Wrap the power cable around the handle 6.
– During transport, carry the handpiece 1 and dust contain-
er 23 (by the carrying handle 25) separately.
– To enable compact storage, put the handpiece on the filter
lid 24 (vacuum connection 8 on the recess in the carrying
handle 25).
Note: Do not put the handpiece 1 down without an applica-
tion tool mounted on it (sanding plate, wire brush, perforator,
cup wheel, backing pad, etc.). The brush collar 12 may be-
come bent and damaged as a result.

Maintenance and Service

Maintenance and Cleaning

 Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains
plug.
Please store and handle the accessory(-ies) carefully.
If the replacement of the supply cord is necessary, this has to
be done by Bosch or an authorized Bosch service agent in or-
der to avoid a safety hazard.
Cleaning the Handpiece
 For safe and proper working, always keep the machine
and ventilation slots clean.
– Regularly remove the application tool and vacuum the fan
wheel 13 with a suitable vacuum cleaner.
– Remove stubborn wallpaper residues with a suitable ob-
ject, e.g. screwdriver.
Cleaning the Filter Element during Work
"EasyClean"
If the extraction performance deteriorates, the filter element
30 has to be cleaned.
– Turn the filter lid 24 at least three times in the direction of
the arrow.
This taps the dust off the filter element 30. The sound
heard when doing this is system-related.
Bosch Power Tools
Cleaning the Dust Container and Filter Element
(see figures K1–K6)
In order to ensure optimum dust extraction, empty the dust
container 23 in good time and clean the filter element 30 reg-
ularly.
– Pull the fastening clips 26 of the filter lid 24 outwards at
the top.
– Take off the filter lid 24 together with the filter element 30.
– Unscrew the filter element 30 from the filter lid 24.
– Shake out the dust container 23 and, if necessary, the fil-
ter element 30 over a suitable bin.
– If necessary, clean the dust container with a damp cloth.
After damp cleaning, leave the dust container to dry thor-
oughly.
– Vacuum down the flaps of the filter element 30.
You can also wash the filter element 30 under running wa-
ter. Leave it to dry for approx. 24 hours afterwards.
The filter element 30 must not be cleaned with a brush
because this can damage the flaps.
– Screw the filter element 30 back into the filter lid 24.
– Pull the fastening clips 26 upwards slightly until they are
fixed in place in order to make it easier to attach the filter
lid 24.
– Reattach the filter lid 24 together with the filter element 30
to the dust container. When doing so, the opening 31 in
the filter lid must engage into the protrusion above the
holder 29.
– Hook in the fastening clips 26 at the bottom and then press
them upwards over the rim of the filter lid 24.
