VoltAge tester "Vc-53"
item no. 1188072
intenDeD use
The 2pole voltage tester can be used to measure and display voltages in an electrical low-voltage circuit.
The product also has an acoustic and visual circuit indicator as well as a single-pole phase tester. The
measuring instrument is equipped with non-detachable measuring tip covers. Power is supplied by two
batteries of type AAA included in the delivery.
The voltage tester complies with the standard for two-pole voltage testers ov 12 - 690 V CAT III 600 V/CAT
IV 300 V according to EN 61243-3/DIN VDE 0682-401 as well as protection class IP54 (dust and spray
water). The product is suitable for use in dry or damp conditions. Use during rain or other precipitation is
not permitted. The voltage tester is designed for use by electrically skilled persons using personal protec-
tive equipment.
The measuring instrument must not be operated when the battery compartment is open.
Measuring under adverse ambient conditions such as dust and flammable gases, vapours or solvents is
not permitted.
Always observe the safety instructions and all other information included in these operating instructions.
This product complies with the applicable national and European requirements. All names of companies

explAnAtion of the symBols
A n exclamation mark inside a triangle points out important instructions in the operating
manual.
T he lightning symbol in a triangle warns against an electric shock or the impairment of the
electrical safety of the appliance.
T he arrow symbol indicates special information and advice on operating the device.
sAfety instructions
t he warranty will expire in case of any damage caused by the failure to follow these
operating instructions! we assume no liability for any resulting consequential damage!
w e assume no liability for any damage to property or personal injuries caused by im-
proper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! in such cases, the warranty/
guarantee will be null and void.
• T he unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not permitted for safety and
approval reasons (CE). Never dismantle the product.
• T his product is not a toy. Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
Use the product where it is out of the reach of children.
• N ever use the product immediately after moving it from a cold room into a warm one. The
condensation that forms might damage the product under certain circumstances.
• A void the following adverse conditions at the installation location and during transport:
- Extreme cold or heat, direct sunlight
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong impacts, blows
• D o not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, since it could become a dangerous
plaything for children.
• H andle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental falls, even
from a low height.
• N ever touch the measuring tips or a measuring point during the measuring process. There is
the risk of an electrical shock.
• N ever touch areas outside of the marked handling area during a measurement.
• D o not use in the immediate proximity of strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields or trans-
mission aerials. These can affect the measurement.
• P rior to and after each measurement, check your instrument and the measuring leads for
damages. Never take any measurements if the protecting insulation is defective or the
measuring instrument is damaged otherwise.
• B e especially careful when dealing with voltages higher than 50 V/AC or 75 V/DC. Even at
such voltages you can get a life-threatening electric shock if you come into contact with live
electric wires.
• T he measuring instrument is suitable for use in dry or damp conditions. Avoid use in a damp
or wet environment.
• A lways ensure that the test probes are perfectly clean. Dirty or even corroded test clips can
lead to an incorrect measurement.
• T he measuring tips must only be touched at the handles provided for this purpose. Otherwise,
there is danger of an electric shock.
Version 05/14
• N ever exceed the highest permissible voltage values. If the stated values are exceeded, the
product becomes damaged and a fatal hazard exists. (See chapter Technical Data.)
• T he recovery time as specified in Technical Data must always be adhered to. Otherwise, the
product could be damaged.
• The voltage values specified are nominal voltages.
• I f the neutral wire (N) or the earth wire (PE) is interrupted, no reading is shown.
• O nly use the measuring instrument inside the admissible maximum temperature and humidity
specifications as described in Technical Data.
• A lways attach the measuring tip cover if you are no longer using the device.
• Store the measuring instrument carefully when you are finished using it.
• W hen using the voltage tester in the measurement category CAT III and CAT IV, it is recom-
mended to attach the plastic protective covers to the measuring tip to decrease the length of
the free contact tips. This reduces the risk of possible short cut during testing.

generAl BAttery instructions
• Batteries should be kept out of the reach of children.
• D o not leave batteries lying around; there is a risk of them being swallowed by children or domestic
animals. If they are swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• L eaking or damaged batteries can lead to caustic burning of the skin. Therefore, use suitable protective
gloves.
• B atteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into fire. There is a risk of explosion.
• M ake sure that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries (pay attention to plus/+ and minus/–).
