Depending on your type of rechargeable battery and the capacity in
mAh, the charging currents can be adjusted by means of the sliding
switch on the bottom of your charger. Following discharging (NiCd)
the charger automatically starts to charge.
A red LED shows the state of charging either by flashing or as con-
tinuous light, a green LED lights when discharging.
Connection/putting into operation,
discharging/charging
a) Connection, putting into operation, charging with prior
discharging (for rechargeable NiCd batteries)
Connect the Euro mains power cord with double insulation of the
charger to the 230 V wall outlet (in Germany: protective contact
socket). Now insert the rechargeable batteries to be charged (at
least one, max. four) in the respective charging compartment(s)
making sure polarity is correct ("+" of the cell to the plus contact 2a
and "-" of the cell to the minus contact 2b). If the respective rechar-
geable battery is correctly inserted and not defective, the respective
red LED flashes shortly afterwards (charging commences). Push the
start button. Repeat this procedure for each rechargeable battery
inserted. If the rechargeable batteries are not defective, the respec-
tive red LED lights up over the respective charging circuit and the
green LED for discharging. The charging/discharging operation has
started and now proceeds automatically. Depending on the remai-
ning capacity of the respective rechargeable battery the charger
automatically switches from discharging to charging (flashing red
LED) after a certain period of discharging. When the charging ope-
ration has been completed, the charger automatically switches to
trickle charge. In order to ensure proper function of a rechargeable
battery even after a longer period of time (without memory effect),
we recommend to always discharge rechargeable NiCd batteries
(does not apply to rechargeable NiMH batteries) before recharging

voyants de charge correspondants deviennent rouges, les voyants
de décharge deviennent verts. L'opération de décharge/de charge a
été enclenchée et s'achève automatiquement. Au bout d'une certai-
ne période de décharge, variant en fonction de la capacité résiduel-
le de l'accu correspondant, le chargeur passe automatiquement à
l'opération de charge (diode électroluminescente rouge clignotan-
te). Apres avoir terminé l'opération de charge, ladite charge de com-
pensation (trickle charge) s'effectue automatiquement. Pour garan-
tir le bon fonctionnement d'un accu durant longtemps (sans effet de
perte de capacité de mémoire), il est préférable de décharger les
accus au NiCd avant de les recharger (ceci n'est pas valable pour
les accus NiMH). En outre, il est conseillé de décharger/recharger
les accus une fois par mois (autodécharge, perte de capacité).
Si, par contre, aucune diode électroluminescente ne devient rouge
au bout de 2 minutes après avoir inséré les accus, l'accu ne peut
pas être rechargé (décharge totale, défectueux).
b) Charge sans décharge préalable (en cas d'accus NiMH)
L'opération de charge peut également être lancée sans décharge
préalable. Pour cela, procédez de la façon suivante :
1. Insérez l'accu à recharger en respectant la polarité ;
2. la diode électroluminescente rouge se met à clignoter, l'opération
de charge est en cours ;
3. Apres avoir terminé la charge, la charge de compensation s'effec-
tue automatiquement (trickle charge).
Veillez impérativement à ce que le chargeur soit suf-
fisamment aéré et qu'il soit en position horizontale
lors de l'utilisation. N'obstruez jamais les faces
supérieure et inférieure de l'appareil en y mettant
des journaux, des livres ou des objets similaires,
pour éviter d'éventuels dommages (dus à l'accumu-
lation de chaleur).
