Connection and operation

1. Place the switch on a stable, even surface. When choosing a spot to set up the product,
make sure that the connections are easily accessible so the network cable plugs can be
easily plugged in.
2. Connect the power cable's IEC plug to the corresponding socket on the power adaptor.
3. Connect the hollow plug of the power adaptor's output cable to the corresponding socket
on the switch.
4. Connect the power cable's plug to a household power outlet with a protective ground
contact.
5. The switch will conduct a self-test and for a moment all LEDs light up. The switch is
operational when only the PWR LED and the LED on the power adaptor remain lit.
6. Connect the switch's RJ45 ports to the corresponding sockets on your computer using
suitable network cables. You can also connect other devices with a network connection –
such as TVs, satellite receivers or games consoles – to the switch.
7. As soon as a device is connected to one of the ports and turned on, the corresponding LED
on the switch lights up. The corresponding LED flashes during data transfer.
The switch has an automatic uplink recognition on each port. This makes cabling to
other switches especially easy. A cross link cable is no longer necessary, a normal
1:1 connected network cable can be used.

Tips and notes

• If you have a network or system administrator for your network (i.e. in a larger company),
ask him/her to set up the cables and connections. Do not connect the switch by yourself in
such case.
• The twisted pair cable (also called patch cable) between the switch and the device to be
connected may not exceed 100 m. Only use fully-wired (this means all eight of the RJ45
plug's contacts are connected 1:1) CAT5e cables or better.
• The maximum theoretical data transfer speed of 10 or 100 Mbit/s is generally not reached in
practice (for example 100 Mbit = approx. 12.5 MB). In case of data transfer via network, not
only data is transferred but also protocol information, etc. In addition, data packets have to be
repeated or several computers may attempt to transfer data simultaneously.
• If the switch is not supplied with power, all connections are out of service and a network
connection cannot be made.
• We recommend labeling the network cables to ease troubleshooting in the event of a
malfunction. You could use stickers or network cables of different colors.

Maintenance and cleaning

Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents as these may lead to discoloration.
To prevent scratch marks, do not apply too much force on the surface during
cleaning.
• The product does not require any maintenance, do not disassemble it.
• Disconnect the product from the power supply before cleaning by unplugging it. All network
connections are then out of service.
• You can easily remove dust with a clean soft brush or a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household
waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory
regulations.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
