Mounting the lock cable

Connect the lock cable to the lock cable of the prosthetic elbow joint.
INFORMATION: The 10Y19=2 screw coupling can be used for a lock cable made of Perlon
cable, the 10Y19=1 screw coupling for a lock cable made of steel cable. If necessary, a loop
can also be formed on the pull cables using the 21A8 loop sleeve and a centre punch.
Mounting the flexion cable

Thread the pull cable through three bore holes and secure it with the 10Y3 clamp with screw.
Alternative mounting for the forearm of the ErgoArm: Use the 21A207 clamping plug set
for mounting (not included in the scope of delivery).
INFORMATION: The flexion cable should be taut when the arm hangs straight down.
7 Use

The initial fitting and application of the product must be carried out by qualified personnel.

Instruct the patient in the handling and care of the product.
►
Advise the patient that the single-sided muscular work required for control of the body har
ness may result in muscular strain. Suitable compensating measures are required (such as
exercise and therapy). These must be discussed with the attending doctor.

The body harness is designed so that the function of the prosthesis remains unaffected by normal
movements.

Using the prehensile cable
Tighten: push one or both shoulders forward.

Release: push both shoulders back.

Using the lock cable

Shoulder thrust: lower the shoulder girdle.

Alternative movement: bring the fitted upper arm back while bringing the shoulder for
ward at the same time.

Using the flexion cable
→
Tighten: bring the fitted arm forward.
Release: bring the fitted arm back.

Optimising the course of the harness
► For the best fit of the body harness, readjust the course of the harness using the 21Y195=25
buckles.
► If necessary, secure the buckle on the strap with a seam.
► To change the cable travel for grasping, adjust the spiral nut on the Bowden cable (
page 3 – ).
8 Cleaning

Use of improper cleaning agents
Damage to the product due to use of improper cleaning agents

Only clean the product with the approved cleaning agents.
► To prevent skin irritation, wash the axilla pad daily (hand wash with mild detergent/do not
iron/do not bleach/do not tumble dry/do not dry clean).
► Replace the axilla pad in case of noticeable wear.
