PREPARING THE HONING BELT FOR USE
Leather honing belts must be dressed before first
use and when the honing effect decreases.
With the machine switched off, spread a thin and
even coating of honing paste over the entire outside
surface of the belt.
Mounting the Spark Guard (fi g. 6, 7)
The spark guard offers additional protection from
sparks and must be used whenever possible.
1. Fit the transparent screen (y) to the spark guard
(f) by inserting a mushroom head bolt (z) into the
screen and the guard and placing a washer (aa)
and nut (bb) onto the bolt (fig. 6). Tighten the
nut.
2. Hold the spark guard against the edge on top
of the wheel case (cc) as shown (fig. 7).
3. Insert a mushroom head bolt (dd) into the guard
and the wheel case.
4. Place a washer (ee) and nut (ff) onto the bolt
and tighten the nut hand-tight.
5. Position the guard at a distance of approx.
2 mm from the wheel by sliding it towards the
wheel.
6. Securely tighten the nut (torque: 6 Nm).
Adjusting the Workpiece Support
(fi g. 8)
The workpiece support can be set according to the
workpiece and the desired grinding angle.
1. Slacken the nut holding the support (c).
2. Set the support to the desired position and
angle, making sure that the support is as close
to the wheel as possible.
3. Tighten the nut (torque: 6 Nm).
Mounting and Adjusting the
Clamping and Grinding Attachment
(fi g. 1, 9)
The clamping and grinding attachment is used to
hold the workpiece to the grinding wheel at a fixed
angle.
1. Remove the fasteners holding the workpiece
support (c) to the bracket (d) and remove the
workpiece support (fig. 1).
2. Mount the grinding attachment bracket (gg) to
the bracket (d) on the machine as shown using
the hexagonal head bolt (hh) and corresponding
nut (ii) (fig. 9). Make sure that the grinding
attachment bracket is at a distance of approx.
2 mm from the grinding wheel.
3. Insert the rod (jj) of the grinding attachment into
the forks on the grinding attachment bracket as
shown.
Mounting the Water Supply System
(fi g. 4, 10, 11, 12, 13)
1. Remove the backing plate (r) (fig. 4).
2. Insert a screw (kk) into each of the bracket pairs
(ll) and place a nut (mm) a few turns on each
screw (fig. 10).
3. Hook the bracket pairs (ll) to the back of the belt
case (nn) as shown (fig. 11).
4. Hold the water reservoir (oo) against the bracket
pairs as shown and push it in its place with the
brackets engaging in the recesses (pp).
5. Tighten the nuts (mm) (fig. 10).
6. Replace the backing plate (r) (fig. 4).
7. Mount the flow regulator unit (qq) to the front of
the belt case (nn) using the screws (rr)
(fig. 12).
8. Place the hose (ss) between the water reservoir
(oo) and the flow regulator unit (qq) (fig. 13).
In order to use the water supply system, it must be
filled with a sufficient amount of water.
9. Make sure the flow regulator (tt) is closed.
10. Unscrew the cap (uu).
11. Fill the container with cold water.
12. Screw the cap (uu) back on.
