Using an Extension Cable
If an extension cable is required, use an approved
3–core extension cable suitable for the power
input of this tool (see technical data). The minimum
2
conductor size is 1.5 mm
; the maximum length is
30 m.
When using a cable reel, always unwind the cable
completely.
ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENT
WARNING: To reduce the risk of
injury, turn unit off and disconnect
machine from power source before
installing and removing accessories,
before adjusting or changing set-
ups or when making repairs. Be sure
the switch is in the OFF position. An
accidental start-up can cause injury.
Unpacking the Machine and its Parts
1. Carefully lift the machine out of its package.
2. Take out the accessories and hardware parts.
Required and Recommended Tools
Apart from the tools included with the machine, the
following tools are required:
–Torque wrench
Mounting the Machine to the
Workbench (fi g. 2)
The machine must be mounted onto the
workbench.
1. Mark the position of the four mounting holes
provided in the base of the machine on the
workbench.
2. Drill a Ø 6.5 mm hole at each of the marked
positions.
3. Place the machine on the workbench and insert
an M6 bolt with a washer through the mounting
holes in the base into each of the holes drilled in
the workbench. Make sure the protruding length
X (see figure) is at least 15 mm for each of the
bolts used.
4. Place a nut on each of the bolts and securely
tighten the nuts (torque: 8 Nm).
Changing the Grinding Wheel (fi g. 3)
1. Remove the three nuts (k) using the spanner
supplied.
2. Remove the guard cover (l).

3. Remove the nut (m) from the spindle (n) using
the spanner supplied.
4. Take the outer flange (o), the packing piece (p)
and the wheel (q) from the spindle.
5. Place the new wheel onto the spindle.
6. Replace the packing piece, the outer flange and
the nut on the spindle.
7. Securely tighten the nut (m) (torque: 6 Nm).
8. Replace the guard cover.
9. Replace the three nuts (k) and securely tighten
them (torque: 5 Nm).
10. Switch on the machine and let the wheel run
with no load for one minute to check for cracks.
WARNING: Do not use a damaged
wheel.
Changing the Grinding or Honing Belt
(fi g. 4)
1. Remove the knob (j).
2. Remove the backing plate (r).
3. Turn the tensioning lever (g) counter-clockwise
to release tension and keep the lever in this
position.
4. Remove the belt (s).
5. Place a new belt over the pulleys (t), making
sure that the arrow on the inside of the belt
points in the same direction as the arrow (u) on
the backing plate.
6. Release the lever.
7. Holding the threaded pin (v) in its place, replace
the backing plate.
8. Replace the knob and tighten it.
WARNING: When mounting a leather
honing belt, make sure that the leather
surface is on the outside.
Adjusting the Grinding or Honing Belt

CENTERING THE BELT
1. If the belt (e) is not properly centered, adjust by
turning the centering knob (h).
2. Slacken the hexagonal head bolts (w) and
adjust the plate (x) to minimise the clearance
with the belt. Tighten the bolts
ADJUSTING THE BELT TO THE WORKPIECE
The belt can be adjusted to suit workpieces with
concave, convex or straight cutting edges.
1. Slacken the knob (j).
