Installation and configuration notes
Installation
Novell openSUSE Linux 11.4 installation DVD when used in internal DVD/CD-ROM drive.
● Use of default settings for the BIOS:
– Installation with ACPI.
– RAID is deactivated.
Installation of NVIDIA NVS 300 Graphic Adapter
Proceed as follows to install the NVS 300 graphic adapter:
1. Download the latest NVIDIA driver from the Internet:
– http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en
– Product type: NVS
– Product series: NVS 300
– Operating system: Linux 64 bit
– Further information: Readme file
2. Activate the internal graphics in the BIOS setup (F2):
"Advanced -> Intel IGD SWSCI OpRegion ->
Initiate Graphic Adapter [IGD]
Save and Exit"
3. Install openSUSE 11.4 from the DVD (incl. kernel sources).
4. Install the NVIDIA driver (see below)
5. Reboot the device.
6. Activate the PEG graphics in the BIOS setup (F2):
"Advanced -> Intel IGD SWSCI OpRegion ->
Initiate Graphic Adapter [PEG/IGD]
Save and Exit"
7. Replug the monitor from internal to external.
