Installing NVIDIA drivers

NOTICE
The NVIDIA installer cannot function while the Xserver is still running and the NVIDIA kernel module is still loading.
Therefore, please boot with runlevel 3 by entering "3" as kernel reboot option. Alternatively, switch to runlevel 3 ("init 3")
and delete (unload) the kernel module with "rmmod nvidia" before you start installing the NVIDIA, because
openSUSE 11.3 uses "nomodeset" as an additional kernel boot option.
1. Install and configure the kernel sources:
Install 'kernel-source', 'make' and gcc' packets with YaST2.
2. Perform the following commands:
echo "blacklist nouveau" > /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia.conf
# recreate initrd without KMS, if the use of KMS is enabled in initrd
if grep -q NO_KMS_IN_INITRD=\"no\" /etc/sysconfig/kernel; then
sed -i 's/NO_KMS_IN_INITRD.*/NO_KMS_IN_INITRD="yes"/g' /etc/sysconfig/kernel
mkinitrd
fi
1. Reboot the device.
2. Use the NVIDIA installer for 280.13:
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-280.13.run -q
NOTICE
After each kernel update, you must compile and install the NVIDIA kernel module again:
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-280.13.run -K
