OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
BS-20USB ENDOSCOPE

INTENDED USE
This endoscope, for use in combination with a computer, is a visual tool for optical troubleshooting and
inspection of voltage-free systems and installations.
The waterproof gooseneck with camera head and the waterproof cable are suitable for use in liquids (no
acidic or basic solutions). The USB plug itself is not waterproof and may not be submerged or exposed to
moisture.
The gooseneck permits the camera located on the tip to reach otherwise inaccessible positions.
The product transmits images and is supplied with power via a USB connection of a computer.
For safety and approval purposes (CE), you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use
the product for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. In addition,
improper use can cause hazards such as short circuiting, fire, electric shock etc. Read the instructions
carefully and keep them. Make this product available to third parties only together with its operating
instructions.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety information.
If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on proper handling in this
manual, we assume no liability for any resulting personal injury or damage to property.
Such cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
a) Persons / Product
• This product is a precision instrument. Do not drop it or subject it to any blows.
• The USB connector plug is not waterproof and may therefore not be used underwater. Shield
the USB plug from splashing water.
• The endoscope is suited for inspection only in voltage-free systems. The camera head is
made of metal and can cause short-circuiting.
• For safety reasons, make sure all system components are voltage-free before inspection.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room into a warm
one. The condensation generated could destroy the product. Leave the product turned off
until it has reached room temperature.
• Attention, LED light: Do not look directly into the LED light! Do not look into the beam directly
or with optical instruments!
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. These may become dangerous
playing material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity,
moisture, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it
from any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can
damage the product.
• Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are connected
to the product.
b) Miscellaneous
• Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of the device.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs are to be performed exclusively by an expert or at a
qualified shop.

SOFTWARE
a) Installation
1. Make sure that the endoscope is not connected to the computer.
2. Turn on your computer. Insert the included CD into your CD or DVD drive. To install the software, you
will need administrator rights.
3. The installation begins automatically after the software CD is inserted. Should this fail to happen, go to
your CD-ROM drive and double-click the file "Telescope_Driver.exe" to manually begin installation.
4. The security query for the "Windows Logo Test" will appear. This test warns you that Windows® does
not recognize the software. Click on "Continue anyway" for confirmation. If you wish to abort the
installation, click "Stop installation".
5. After confirming the security query, installation will be completed automatically. Depending on
your operating system, it may be necessary to restart your computer. Review the user help for
Microsoft®Windows to find out if this is necessary for your system.
The user program "Amcap" is a universal program for various devices. All menu items which are not
described in this operating instructions are not part of the endoscope's functional range.
b) Uninstalling
1. Locate and open the folder "Telescope Driver" in the Windows menu.
2. Click "Uninstall" to begin uninstalling the software and follow the manager to finish uninstalling.

OPERATION

Hold the camera head, the gooseneck and the cable only in voltage-free liquids. The
gooseneck and the cable may not be submerged in water past the marking "IP67 max.
water level".
The endoscope is suited for inspection only in voltage-free systems. The camera head is
made of metal and can cause short-circuiting. For safety reasons, make sure all system
components are voltage-free before inspection.
Do not exceed the minimum bending radius of 60 mm.
a) Connecting the endoscope and starting the software
1. Turn on your computer and connect the USB connector plug (3) to a free USB port on your computer.
2. The first time you connect the plug, your computer will tell you it has found new hardware. Follow the
instructions in Windows to install the drivers for the telescope.
3. Start the program "Amcap" from the folder "Telescope Driver" in the Windows menu.
4. Go to the tab "Devices" and select "Telescope Driver". Go to the tab "Options" and activate the menu
item "Preview". The image is shown.
If another USB camera is already installed, you may receive an error message when starting the
program. Should this be the case, select the driver "Telescope Driver" from the main menu item
"Devices".
b) Adjusting the camera lighting
By turning the exposure control LED (2) you can adjust the intensity of the camera lighting:
