Remote slave flash operation is only supported by digital reflex cameras!
For setting the remote slave flash operating mode there are two options.
Setting procedure for remote slave flash operation (option 1)
• Fold the camera's integrated flash unit (controller flash unit) in fully and fit flash
unit (mecablitz 48AF-1 digital) to the camera (see 3.1).
• Activate the camera and slave flash unit. To activate the remote slave operating
mode, set the camera to wireless remote flash operation
("Wireless" or "WL"; see camera operating instructions).
• Actuate the camera's shutter release so that a data transfer occurs between the
camera and the flash unit, whereby the flash unit is automatically set to remote
slave flash operation. At the same time, the camera and flash unit are set to
the same remote channel (see below). SL then appears on the flash unit's
display.
Deactivating remote slave flash operation:
• With the flash unit fitted to the camera, deactivate wireless remote flash opera-
tion ("Wireless" or "WL") or set normal flash operation.
• Actuate the camera's shutter release so that a data transfer occurs between the
camera and the flash unit, whereby the flash unit is automatically set to normal
flash operation. The indicator SL is then deleted on the flash unit's display.
Remote slave flash operation can also be activated and deactivated without
the camera (option 2)
• Press the "Select" button repeatedly until SL flashes on the display. Use the ( + )
and ( - ) buttons to make the required setting.
• The indicator ON shows that remote slave operation is activated.
• The indicator OFF shows that remote slave operation is deactivated.
The setting takes effect immediately. After approx. 5 seconds the indicator stops
flashing and the setting is memorised automatically. After remote slave operation
has been activated, SL is shown on the display.
Setting remote operating mode
Sony remote operation supports the flash operating modes TTL and manual M as
well as high-speed synchronisation HSS. The "Mode" button is used to select the
remote operating mode.
To this end, press the "Mode" button repeatedly until the symbol for the required
remote operating mode TTL or M flashes.
The setting takes effect immediately. After approx. 5 seconds the indicator stops
flashing and the setting is memorised automatically.
In remote flash operating mode "SL", high-speed synchronisation HSS
(TTL HSS or M HSS) cannot be set via the slave flash unit. High-speed syn-
chronisation is automatically activated via the slave flash unit when flas-
hing for the duration of the shot concerned if a shutter time less than the
camera's high-speed sync time is set on the cameral (see camera opera-
ting instructions)!
Shorter shutter times than the flash sync time can only be set on the camera in
remote operation if the slave flash unit is not fitted to the camera and the camera
is set to the remote operating mode "WL" (wireless).
In the remote operating mode manual M, a partial light output can be set to
adjust the light output:
• Press the "Select" button repeatedly until P and the manual partial light output
are displayed.
• Use the ( + ) and ( - ) buttons to make the required setting. Settings from P 1/1
(full light output) to P 1/128) are possible.
The setting takes effect immediately. After approx. 5 seconds the indicator stops
flashing and the setting is memorised automatically. After a partial light output
has been set, EV starts flashing on the display showing that a partial light output
has been set.
By repeatedly pressing the "Select" button, the partial light output setting
can be called up and/or displayed. The partial light output selected can
be changed via the ( + ) and ( - ) buttons as required.
