• Mount the scale as near the slideway of tje machine as possible to ensure maximum prescision.
• The magnetic base or chuck may contact the scale without causing harmful effects, however,
when an exceptionally strong magnetic chuck is used, mount it at least 10 mm/0.39" from the
scale.
• Avoid direct exposure to sunlight.
• When the scale is mounted in a location where external pressures may be applied to it, fit it with
a protective cover.

Mount the scale as shown in (A) or (B) above.
Marks at each end of the top surface of the scale indicate the effective length of the scale. Mount
the scale so that the center of the head carrier always remains between these marks even though
45 mm/1.77" is provided at each end of the effective length for overtravel protection. If the head
carrier moves beyond the space allowed for overtravel, the scale may be damaged.
Tension or repeated bending of the head cable may result in a broken cable, therefore, do not
subject the cable to tension or repeated bending loads.
When there is a possibility of metal chips or cutting oil falling onto the cable or connector, a
protective cover should be provided.
