- Mount the knob on the rotary switch in the V position.
NOTE: If the knob should be removed for one reason or another,
do not pull the knob (this is very difficult), but pull on the switch
itself on the inside!
- Mount two 1.5 V batteries in the holder. Watch the polarity!
CALIBRATION OF DC AND AC REFERENCE VOLTAGE
For the calibration a good digital meter is required as reference.
DC adjustment :
- Turn the rotary switch to position V.
- Connect a battery (between 1.5 and 9 V) to the outer terminals of
the supplied 4K7 (5K) trimmer potentiometer.
- Insert the supplied black lead in the COM (-) terminal and the red
lead in the V (+) terminal.
- Connect the meter between the slider of the trimmer
potentiometer and the minus pole of the battery (see Fig. 2.0).
- Switch the unit on. Using the DC/AC pushbutton the meter may
be set to AC (alternating current). However, first set the meter to
DC (direct current). The AC-symbol should not be lit.
- Connect another good digital meter in the same way as the
meter kit (first switch this reference meter to the DC position).
- Adjust the trimmer potentiometer until the good meter indicates
± 1000 mV (1 V) (adjust the metering range as small as
possible).
- Now adjust using RV2 in the meter kit, until the readout is the
same as in the reference meter.
AC adjustment :
- Turn the rotary switch to position V.
- Connect a small transformer (between 1.5 and 12 V) to the outer
terminals of the supplied 4K7 (5K) trimmer potentiometer.
- Insert the supplied black lead in the COM (-) terminal and the red
lead in the V (+) terminal.
- Connect the meter between the slider of the trimmer
potentiometer and one of the low voltage terminals of the
transformer (see Fig. 3.0).
