Trim the servo well cover (10) to fit neatly, and secure it with adhesive tape or a little
cyano.
The tailplane
All that needs to be done here is to glue the elevator horn (7) in place. Cut down the
horn to an overall length of 6 mm. The horn should be positioned exactly central, 10
mm aft of the elevator leading edge. Cut the 3 mm Ø hole for the horn very carefully,
drilling no deeper than 3 mm to avoid damage to the top surface of the moulding.
The elevator horn (7) can now be glued in place.
The picture shows the elevator horn installed. Caution: bend the end of the
elevator pushrod (5) at 90° , leaving an angled stub at least 8 mm long, so that
there is no chance of it disengaging when the tailplane is screwed to the fin.
Fix the tailplane to the fin using the screw (8) at the rear and the screw (9) at
the front. Caution: check the control systems before every flight, and ensure
that the elevator pushrod is connected to the horn.
The wing
The photo shows the component parts of one aileron linkage. First connect a 320 mm
extension lead to the servo lead, and secure the connection with adhesive tape or a
drop of cyano before threading it through the wing; you will find lengths of thread in
the wing for this purpose. Repeat with the second aileron servo. Set the servos
exactly to centre (from the transmitter), then fit the prepared output arms on the servo
shafts. Screw the aileron horns (12) into the ailerons. Cut the heads from the
machine screws (14), and make up the aileron pushrods from parts (13) and (14).
Caution: it is essential to apply UHU schraubensicher (thread-lock fluid) to the
clevises and the pushrod (14).
The illustration shows one aileron servo glued in the wing, with the aileron pushrod
connected. With both aileron servos in place, the servo well covers can be trimmed to
fit and taped to the wings.
Installing the receiver and the LiPo flight battery
onnect the elevator servo extension lead to receiver socket 3. Connect 180 mm
extension leads to sockets 2 and 5 (aileron servos) and another to socket 7 (speed
controller). Connect the appropriate components to the extension leads, and check
the working systems in turn.
Caution: be sure to remove the propeller before you connect the flight battery!
When you are confident that everything is working correctly, pack the receiver in
foam and push it into the fuselage aft of the wing. Run the receiver aerial out of the
fuselage through a hole in the underside, and tape it to the leading edge of the fin.
Fix the LiPo battery in the fuselage using Velcro (hook-and-loop) tape (18) and (19).
Centre of Gravity
Adjust the position of the LiPo battery in the fuselage to set the correct balance point.
With the model fully assembled - wing (11) attached using the screws (16) and (9) -
the CG should be around 55 mm aft of the wing root leading edge.
