To integrate the motion detector into your HomeMatic system and enable
it to communicate with other HomeMatic devices (e.g. HomeMatic ac-
tuators), you must teach it in first. You can teach-in the motion detector
directly to other HomeMatic devices or to the HomeMatic Central Control
Unit.
You can teach-in the motion detector with or without taking a brightness
threshold.
If a particular brightness threshold is to be used as the criterion for
performing a switching command, the wireless motion detector must be
positioned at its intended operating location for at least 48 minutes prior to
teaching-in. During this period the last 8 brightness values (measurements
taken every 6 minutes) are saved to an internal memory continuously and
the lowest brightness value is implemented as the switching criterion.
This enables you to adapt the switching command at the actuator to every
brightness level, without needing to involve the central control unit.
For example, if you want to teach-in the actuator so that it will only
switch when it is dark, and you want to do this without using the central
control unit, the sensor must be exposed to said darkness for at least 48
minutes. The teach-in procedure is then performed.
Once the batteries have been inserted brightness values are not
available straightaway, so the specified detection times must be
observed as a minimum.

7.1 Teaching-in to HomeMatic devices

If you would like to teach-in the motion detector to one or more Home-
Matic devices, you must put the devices to be taught-in into teach-in
mode and select the required teach-in channel. To do this, proceed as
follows:
During teach-in, please make sure you maintain a distance of at least
50 cm between the devices.
Activate the teach-in mode of your motion detector.

Teaching-in without a brightness threshold: Briefly press the teach-in
button (the device LED flashes orange).
Teaching-in taking a brightness threshold: Press the teach-in button
for at least 5 seconds (the device LED flashes red) and then press it
again shortly (the device LED flashes orange).
The teach-in procedure can now be cancelled by pressing the
teach-in button briefly; this will cause the device LED to light up
red.
If no teach-in is carried out, teach-in mode will be exited automati-
cally after 20 seconds. If other devices are also in teach-in mode,
they will be taught-in.
Now put the device you wish to teach-in the motion detector (e.g.
HomeMatic actuators) into teach-in mode. Please follow the rele-
vant operating manual instructions of the corresponding device.
The device LED flashes green to indicate that teaching-in has
been successful (how long it will flash for depends on how much
configuration work has been competed)
Please repeat the teach-in procedure for all devices that need to
communicate with each other.
If the wireless motion detector has already been taught-in to a
central control unit and is thus blocked for direct teach-in, it can still
be put into teach-in mode as described above, but the device LED
will light up red for two seconds when a button is pressed. Direct
teach-in is not possible.
7.2 Teaching in to a HomeMatic CCU
Your device can be conveniently
controlled and configured,
connected directly to other devices or
used in central control programs
via the HomeMatic software „WebUI". Therefore, your motion detector
has to be taught-in to the HomeMatic Central Control Unit first. New
