• The following connection sequence must be followed:
– charging the battery whilst it is installed:
• connect the charging cable to the battery using the terminal clamps. First
connect the red charging terminal (positive) to the positive terminal of the bat-
tery. Then connect the black terminal (minus) to the vehicle chassis or engine
block, but not near the battery, fuel line or carburettor, and not to metal clips
or moving parts.
• Connect the battery charger to the power supply. The „Power"LED is illumi-
nated.
• Press the „Mode" button within the next five seconds till the required function
is selected.
• If the battery is connected with the correct polarity and is in working order,
charging will start after a few seconds. Depending on the charge status of
the connected battery, the LEDs will Flash light up and indicate the charging
progress.
• Charging operations can vary in length. For a large battery with a capacity of
e.g. 120 Ah, charging may take more than one or two days, depending on
the condition of the battery.
• The charging process is complete when LED 11 (Ready) is permanently lit. If
the charging process does not start, the fuse may be defective. In this case
replace the fuse and check the wiring. For a fixed connection, make sure that
neither the charger nor the connections of the charging cables are exposed
to moisture. Operation of a permanently installed charger (fixed connection in
the vehicle) is only permissible in dry, enclosed spaces (for example a garage).
If the charger is not connected to a power supply that is connected to the
battery, a small reverse current will flow and gradually discharge the battery.
Therefore we would recommend a constant connection only for vehicles which
are regularly moved and charged.
• After charging, the charger must first be disconnected from the power supply,
then the battery.
• Always follow the sequence for disconnecting the charging clamps:
– Disconnect the black clamp (minus) from the vehicle chassis is or the engine
block first. Then disconnect the red (positive) clamp from the positive terminal
of the battery.
