10. Range

The range for radio signal transmission between the outdoor sensor and the projection
alarm clock is up to 50 m at optimal conditions.
However, the range values refer to the so-called "free field range".
This perfect alignment (e.g. projection radio alarm clock and outdoor sensor on a
smooth, level meadow without trees, houses, etc.), however, is never present in prac-
tice.
Normally the projection alarm clock is set up in the house and the outdoor sensor, e.g.
below a car port or at the side of a window.
Due to the different influences on radio transmission, no specific range can be guar-
anteed, unfortunately.
Usually, however, operation in a family home is possible without any problems. If the
projection alarm clock doesn't receive any data from the outdoor sensor (despite new
batteries), reduce the distance between the outdoor sensor and projection alarm clock,
or change the installation site.
The range may be considerably reduced by:
• Walls/masonry, reinforced concrete ceilings
• Coated or metallised insulated glass, aluminium windows, etc.
• Vehicles
• Trees, shrubbery, earth, rocks
• Proximity to metal & conductive objects (e.g. heater)
• Proximity to the human body
• Broadband interferences, e.g. in residential areas (DECT telephones, mobiles, ra-
dio-controlled headphones, radio-controlled speakers, other projection radio alarm
clocks, a baby phone, etc.)
• Proximity to cables, electrical motors, transformers, mains adapters, computers -
Proximity to power outlets, mains cables
• Proximity to badly shielded or openly operated computers or other electrical devices
