5.3.1 FUSE Linking
Fig. 5.3: Activated Fuse linking shown in the display
The function fuse linking allows to link individual channels to-
gether. The channels can be selected or deselected by a center
click of the knob. Press MENU

Fig. 5.4: FUSE Linking
Fig. 5.4 shows how exceeding the current limit
of CH1 will automatically cause switching off of
channels CH2 and CH3 while exceeding the current
limit of CH2 only causes switching off of CH3.
If the electronic fuse switched the channels linked off the OUPUT
button
remains active. The channels can be reactivated any

will only come on again after the current decreased below the
preset limit I

5.3.2 Fuse Delay
In this menu a fuse delay can be set (delay time of the fuses)
from 0ms to 250ms. This prevents for example with a capacitive
load the tripping of the fuse. The fuse delay can be varied by the
knob. Another channel can be selected by pushing the knob.

5.3.3 OVP (Over Voltage Protection)
Fig. 5.6: OVP and activated fuse
The overvoltage protection can be adjusted for each channel, it
is factory-set to 33 V; it can be adjusted downward according to
the application. If the voltage exceeds the preset limit V
output will be switched off and thus the load protected. If the
OVP is activated the display will show a blinking "OVP".
From the firmware version 2.0 two different versions of the OVP
can be additionally set:
– measured and
– protected
By pushing the knob the menu items can be selected and
changed.
In the operating mode „measured" the return value of the in-
strument stands as a switching threshold for the over voltage
protection. In the operating mode „protected" the adjusted value
of the instrument stands as a switching threshold for the over
voltage protection.
5.3.4 Arbitrary
The HMP4030/4040 allows to generate arbitrary waveforms with
voltage and current levels corresponding to their specifications.
The arbitrary function may be defined using the front panel or
by remote control.
Fig. 5.7: Arbitrary Editor
The menu Arbitrary offers these options: Edit waveform allows
to set the parameters of the freely programmable waveforms
(Arbitrary Editor). Set points defining voltage, current and dwell
time are required, all standard waveforms like staircase, saw-
tooth, sine wave etc. may be generated.
A maximum of 128 set points (index 0 ... 128) may be used and
will be repetitively addressed. The maximum number of repe-
titions is 255. If "Repetitons 000" is selected, the waveform will
be repeated indefinitely.
The values are adjusted with the knob, entered by center click
or with the right arrow button. With Transfer Waveform the data
