Trimming shaped hedges
(Fig . D)
NOTE
Trim hedges in a trapezoidal shape
u
to prevent the lower branches from
becoming bare . This corresponds to
the plant's natural growth and allows
hedges to thrive optimally . Only the new
annual shoots are reduced during cutting
to allow dense branching and good
protection of privacy .
Trim plants while they are young to
u
achieve the desired shape . The main
shoot should be left intact until the hedge
has achieved the intended height . Cut all
other shoots to half their size .
1 . Trim the sides of the hedge . To do so,
move the product from bottom to top in the
direction of growth . If you cut downwards,
thinner branches will move outwards which
may cause thin patches or gaps .
2 . Trim the top edge as desired: straight, roof-
shaped or round .
Cutting free-growing hedges
Free-growing hedges are not to be trimmed
o
into shapes but still need to be regularly cut
to ensure they do not become too tall .
˜ Before operation
