2.4 Personal protective equipment

Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential to minimise
the risks to operating personnel when working with
the Glassmanagement equipment.
As a matter of principle, always wear the following protective clothing for all work:
Safety work clothing
Wear only closely fitting work clothing with narrow sleeves and without
projecting pieces while working. This is primarily for protection against
entanglement in moving parts of the equipment.
Safety shoes
Always wear steel-capped safety shoes to protect against heavy falling
objects and slipping on slippery surfaces.
Work safety gloves
Wear safety work gloves to protect against sharp edges and shards of glass
when operating the equipment.
Helmet with face shield
Wear a helmet with face shield to protect against flying or falling parts and
shards of glass.
Protective goggles
In addition to a face mask, protective goggles should be worn to protect
the eyes from shards and fragments.
Mouth protection
To protect against glass dust, a class FFP3 dust mask must be worn during
work with glass-cutting tools.
Also wear during any special kinds of work that cause noise:
Ear defenders
To protect your hearing, ear defenders should be worn in addition
to personal protective equipment.
