MOUNTING THE FRONT-MOUNTED ROLLER SHUTTER ON THE WALL
Ordering instructions for mounting the front-mounted roller shut-
ter on the wall:
1.
Measure the existing width of the clear wall opening.Measure at the top, in the middle, and at the bottom, as the wall
opening is often unevenly bricked or plastered.
2.
Now take the widest measurement and add the width of the guide rail to this measurement on the left and right.
If you have a clear width with the largest measurement of, for example, 1,500 mm, add the width of the basic
guide rail of 53 mm on each side, i.e. a total of 106 mm. The order size for the width of your roller shutter is therefore 1,606
mm. Of course, it is up to you to specify a wider width for your roller shutter and thus mount the rails at a greater distance
from the reveal on the masonry.
3.
Now measure the height of the clear wall opening. Again, take three measurements: left, right, and center. Now take the
largest measurement and add the roller shutter box height to it. You will find an overview of box sizes on pages 13–14.
To determine the required box size, first decide which box shape and type (e.g., square, roll-formed) you want and
whether your roller shutter should be operated by belt or motor. In the case of motor operation, now read the maximum
total height in the column for the respective desired roller shutter profile and then determine the size of the box.
Example:
Measured height of the clear wall opening
Selection, square, roll-formed, motor, profile PK37 = Box type 137
Box type 137 has a dimension (A) of 139 mm, which you add to your measured height.
Since the end strip of the roller shutter always protrudes approx. 10–20 mm from the box, you can also
add this to the measurement. In this case, the order height is 1,659 mm. However, you can also shorten the
rails slightly during installation to vary the height again.
When determining the box size, please note that our box size table (pages 13–14) always assumes the total height of the
roller shutter (height including box). The maximum buildability per box type shown there must therefore include your
measured height and the respective box.
4.
Now determine the operating side (viewed from the outside) and the type of operation. Please note that for roller shutter
boxes that are mounted on the wall, the hole for the roller shutter belt could be problematic, as reinforcing bars are often
incorporated into the masonry. We recommend the motorized type of operation here!
