WARN ING!
Do not attempt to repair the char-
ger yourself, contact the manufac-
turer (DNIPRO M LLC), the autho-
rized service center DNIPRO-M or
the seller of the product.
This instruction cannot take into
account all possible cases that may
arise in the real conditions of oper-
ation of the starter-charger device.
Therefore, you should always be
guided by common sense, be atten-
tive and careful while working.
3. DESCRIPTION, PURPOSE AND
APPEARANCE OF JUMP STARTER
DEVICE
WARN ING!
Read all warnings and instructions.
Failure to follow warnings and in-
structions may result in electric
shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
Purpose
DNIPRO M jum starter devices are de-
signed for charging lead-acid batteries
with a voltage of 12 V and 24 V, as well as
assistance in starting gasoline and diesel
engines.
Mainly, the function of assistance when
starting the engine is used during the
cold season, when starting the engine is
difficult due to the thickening of the en-
gine oil and it is difficult for the starter
to turn the engine flywheel. At the same
time, there is increased energy consump-
tion of the regular battery, which leads to
its accelerated discharge. By connecting
the jump starter, you briefly increase the
capacity of the standard battery.
Each jump starter has a nominal and max-
imum charge and start current that it can
provide depending on the power. During
battery charging, the maximum current
occurs at the initial moment of charging
when the battery is discharged. The more
discharged the battery, the higher the
current value at the initial moment. Then,
as it charges, the current drops, which
18
is reflected by the built-in ammeter. The
higher the current that the jump starter
can provide, the faster it is possible to
charge the battery.
For example, if the capacity of the car bat-
tery is 65 (A·h), and its nominal charging
current is X (A), then the required time to
fully charge a discharged battery (in prac-
tice, this does not happen often, with a
residual charge of 30-40 % the starter will
no longer work), is 65 (A h) / X (A) (ex-
ample: the battery capacity is 60 A h. The
nominal charging current of the battery
is 10 A. We calculate the time required
to charge the battery: 60 A h / 10 A = 6
h. However, it is desirable that the nom-
inal battery charging current is no more
than 1/10 of its capacity. If the battery is
charged with too much current, the bat-
tery electrolyte can "boil", which can
damage the battery.
Also, you should not use a jump starter of
inappropriate power to charge large-ca-
pacity batteries. In this case, charging
will take a long time and may cause the
charger to overheat. Choose a jump start-
er according to your needs (recommend-
ed battery capacity is indicated in the
"Technical data" section).
In addition to high reliability and perfor-
mance, DNIPRO M jum starters have a
number of other advantages:
– 12 V/24 V charging and starting voltage
selection.
– Engine charging and starting modes.
– Two charging modes — minimum and
maximum charging current.
– Protection of the jump starter and bat-
tery from improper connection by a
fuse.
– Short circuit protection with a fuse.
– Protection against overheating.
Dependence of the value of the
output parameters of the jump
starter on the supply voltage
The principle of operation of hump start-
er devices is based on the transforma-
tion of voltage and current from the pow-
er supply network into values of voltage
and current intended for charging batter-
ies. The transformation takes place pri-
