and/or UL1642 standards. Recommended
model: Panasonic NCR18650GA or Molicel
INR-18650-M35A.
External DC Power:
▶ 5 V DC from USB-C
▶ 10-32 V DC from RJ45 connector. See full
manual for pinout and more details.
External Display
An external display can optionally be used to
enhance situational awareness by providing
clear visual and audio alerts. It should be
installed in the pilot's primary field of view to
ensure quick recognition of traffic warnings.
In dual-seat aircraft, each pilot should have
a display positioned within their direct line
of sight for optimal visibility. PowerFLARM
Flex supports external displays through wired
connections (RJ45) and wireless connec-
tivity (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth) for compatible EFB
software.
For proper setup, refer to the installation
manual of the respective display. Check the
online Product Finder on www.flarm.com/ for
a list of 3rd party offerings.
Placement Considerations
Orientation: Ensure that the device is instal-
led in a flat position for optimal signal recep-
tion. The integrated FLARM/1090 antennas
are optimized for horizontal-plane vertical
polarization, and the internal GPS antenna re-
quires sufficient view of the sky. See Fig. 4 for
illustration.
Line of Sight: Ensure the device has an un-
obstructed view in as many directions as
possible, particularly towards potential traf-
fic areas. Avoid placing it inside enclosed
compartments.
Avoid Obstructions: Keep the device away
from metal, carbon fiber, and other signal-blo-
cking materials that can attenuate transmis-
sion and reception.
Separation: Maintain a minimum distance
of 25 cm from other antennas, avionics, and
high-power electronic devices to minimize
interference.
Minimize Reflections: Avoid placing the de-
vice near windscreens, metal surfaces, or large
cockpit structures that could reflect signals,
reducing accuracy and range.
By following these placement guidelines, you
ensure optimal performance.
