Cassette
insertion
1. Set the Operate switch @
to
ON
(1) and
press
the
Eject button
@ to open
the cassette
lid.
2. Load
the
tape
with
its
window
up
and
push the
center
of the edge of the
cassette
slowly.
3. When
the cassette is com-
pletely
in the
DAT-88EX,
press
the
center
of the
cassette
lid.
When
the
cassette
is
loaded, the Eject indicator
@) flashes and the tape is
loaded.
Playback
Note:

1. When
the Eject button
() is pressed, the Eject
indicator 65) flashes and the cassette lid opens auto-
matically.
Notes:
* Only one side of the tape can be used. When the
cassette is loaded upside down
or back to front, the
cassette cannot be inserted. Do not push it in forcibly.

Never pull the tape out from the cassette; minute dirt
on the tape (fingerprints, dust, a scratch, etc.) will
damage the head and cause a malfunction in the DAT
recorder.

Remove the cassette when
not using the DAT-88EX.

To
cancel
repeat
playback,
press
the
Repeat
button @ once again. The Repeat indicator @
will go out and the unit will be switched to the
normal
playback mode.
The DAT-88EX performs repeat playback 12 times
and then
enters the stop mode.
Direct search system
When
the unit is in the stop mode, select the desired
program
number
by repeatedly
pressing the Program
number select buttons (UP 4/DOWNY)
©).
The selected program number will flash in the Program
number indicator @8. When the Play button () is
pressed,
the number
shown
in the Program
number
indicator
@8 will switch from flashing to continuous
lighting,
and
playback
will
begin
from
the
selected
program
number.
Note:
If the DAT-88EX is left for 10 seconds with the program
number flashing, the Program number indicator @) will
show the original number.
Skip search system
When the unit is already in the playback mode and you
wish to move to a different desired tune, select the skip ©
numbers
by repeatedly
pressing
the
Rewind/Reverse
skip button
@) or Fast forward/Forward
skip button
(3) until the desired skip numbers light. Playback will
begin for that tune.
* You can skip up to 99 tunes in either direction.
