scheide n sichvonderzwelten Bauserie u .a.durch denseitlich erhaben angebrachten Schriftzug „ Deutsche
Bundesbahn". DasModell g ibtdenAblieferungszustand mitBeschriftung E poche IIIwieder.BeimVorbildwur-
dendieMaschinen derBaureihe 2 20,wieSieab1968bezeichnet wurden, noch bis1984 eingesetzt. EinTeil
dernochguterhaltenen L okomotiven konnte anausländische Bahnverwaltungen

Diesel Locomotive
Based on experiences withDiesel locomotivesof the class V 80 the DeutscheBundesbahn began the deve-
lopment of an effective 2000 h.p. locomotive for fast passengers- and freight-transportation at the beginning of
1950. In 1954 the first 5 test-locomotives have been handed over for operation.
1957, after interpretation of all experiences a//together81 locomotives have been delivered in two series. Our
model has a locomotive of the first series as prototype. This locomotive differs from the second series besides
by the raised, lateral script „Deutsche Bundesbahn 't The model presents these state Ofgoods on delivery with
script of the era Ill. At the prototype the engines of the class 220 —as they have been signifiedfrom 1968on-
wards — were in service till 1984 A patt of the locomotives still in good conditions could be sold to foreign rail-
administrations. Some locomotives were even placed in Saudi-Arabiaas building-locomotivesfor a German
enterprise. For future generations the V 200 002 remains as an in running locomotive for museums.
