Remove ash from the ash pan to ensure that air holes in the crucible are free from obstruction.

Set the air regulators to

(see page 11) and place small pieces of chopped wood on the granule flame. Do not block the granule
feed (diagram below)
Once the logs are alight, stop the granule feed and poke the air holes in the crucible to ensure that they are free from obstruction.

Load additional logs once there are sufficient embers and refer to section 1- USING WOOD / LOGS

To move over to using granules:
Allow the wood to burn down to reduce the embers to a minimum.

Use a poker to flatten the embers in the crucible and check that granule supply is not hindered by any wood. (see diagram below)

Remove any ash from beneath the crucible using a poker, empty the ash pan as necessary:
in the ash pan must be clear of obstruction. (see diagram below).

Check that the granules are properly alight after a few minutes.

Changing over from using logs to granules is a manual operation which requires attention.
Keep an eye on the stove for around 30 minutes until certain that it is operating correctly with an automatic
supply of granules.
