Fitting the Radio Control
Fitting the radio control should be straight forwards. We advise that the throttle push-rod be constructed from wire with 3 mm soldered
clevises.
The elevators can be connected driven by 2 servos and 2 Bowden cables or by a single servo with a Y connector as shown in the photo.
Fitting the aileron servos is simply a matter of holding the wings up to the light to find the servo cut-outs and trim the foil away with a
scalpel. Screw the servos into place and the horns onto the ailerons. Connect the them with short wire push-rods and soldered clevises.
Solder extension cables onto the servos and thread the cable through the wing. The wings have been drilled so that the plugs will just fit
through the holes.
Control Throws:
Elivator-
app. +/- 25 mm
Rudder-
app. +/- 25 mm
Ailerons-
app. +/- 25 mm
Centre of Gravity:
Due to the plan form of the wings, the C of G seems to be too far forwards at 80 mm from the leading edge but this is correct see photo.
This setting is safe for the first flights and can be adjusted to suit the pilot.
It should not be necessary to add lead to the model, if the C of G needs to be corrected, move the receiver battery.
The control surfaces should be hinged using the supplied hinges and checked for free movement before flying.
The method of securing the wings and struts is obvious.
The wings are fitted with 6 mm threaded tubes. A piece of 6 mm threaded rod app. 35 mm long should be screwed into the wings and
secured with thread lock. A 6 mm nut can then be used to secure the wings. Note that the Struts take
most of the load in flight and so this area does not bear as much stress as conventional aircraft.
