Building the Fusalage
4. Securing the wings.
We recommend that a threaded rod M3 x 250 mm be screwed into the captive nuts. To accomplice this, a small amount of wood must
be trimmed off the former as shown. Once the rod sits centrally, use 5 min. Epoxy and Glass Cloth to strengthen the joint as shown in
the photo.
5. To secure the elevators, use 2 M3 rods, 6.5 and 9 cm long and secured with Cyno. This will allow you to secure each elevator using a nut
and a washer.
6. Fitting the switch and glow plug socket. Cut out both parts
using template 2, page 19, from 2.5 mm plywood. Drill 6 mm
holes for the glow plug socket. Glue the second (smaller) plate
to the first one ensuring that the cut-outs line up. Use a few
drops of cyno to tack the plate to the fuselage side as shown.
7. Fitting the doors.
The model was designed to use 4 small wood screws to secure each door. We have found that to use 2 small magnets in each door is a
much better solution as shown in the photos. This method makes removing the doors on the flying field much simpler and is harder
wearing than the original one.
6.a The plate must fit snugly into the fuselage and be flush with
the outside. Cover with yellow foil and run Cyno. around the
inside to create a secure joint. Cut the foil away from the
openings and fit the switch and glow plug socket as shown in
the photo.
