Fitting the Engine

Fitting th engine accurately to any model can be a problem, but with the help of template No. 3 (printed twice for safety) in conjunction
with these instructions will make it easy to fit the engine to this model accurately. Read the instructions throughly and do not tighten the
screws or use lock-nuts before everything lines up correctly.
1. Carefully cut out template 3 from pages 21 + 23 and stick it to the firewall. Use a 5.5 mm drill to drill the holes 'X'.
2. Screw the Soft Mounts in, the rear of the engine should be
app. 45 mm from the firewall.
4. Drill 2 10 mm holes at position B X to allow the fuel lines to be
fitted later.
3. To ensure a good fit the engine mount should be filed out by
app. 1 mm on each side. Drill the 4 mounting holes (5 mm) in
the engine mount. They should be located 10 mm in on a
diagonal line from corner to corner.
5. The firewall can now be cut out at point 'G'. This is so that the
throttle push-rod and glow plug cable can be later fitted.
6. Down and side thrust are both 2.5-3°. This can be set by
placing 5 mm washers onto the Soft Mounts. The offset is
around 10 mm up and left when viewed in the direction of
flight.
7. Paint the firewall with fuel proof paint.
8. Test fit the engine.
9. Cut out the cowl using template 4 for the cylinder head and
the exhaust. Template 3 shows the extent of the exhaust
cut-out, proceed with caution! Use a 2.5 mm drill and nail
scissors removing a small amount at a time until a snug fit is
achieved. Once satisfied clean up the edges with a small file or
a Dremel (see photo).
