3.1 Intended use
The
Ex-Pt 720
temperature measuring device for temperature measurements in
explosion-endangered areas (excluding firedamp-endangered
underground mining) of Zones 2 and 1 according to
IEC/CENELEC.

3.3 Initial operation
1 Please follow instruction manual.
2 Open instrument at the back using Allan key.
3 Insert battery correctly (+/-).
4 Put on battery cover.
5 Close instrument with screw.

3.4 Switching-on and measuring
3.4.1 Switching-on
1 Connect probe (take note of plug coding).
2 Switch unit on with

After switching on, a short display and function test will take
place. The measuring instrument is now ready for use.
3.4.2 HOLD-Function
Hold readings in display via

3.4.3 Auto-Off-Function
The Auto-Off-Function switches the unit off after 10 minutes'
operating time thus avoiding unintentional discharge of the
battery.
Cannot be switched off if HOLD function is activated.
3.4.4 Changing measuring unit
The display can be switched between °C and °F.
1 Press
to switch on instrument.
2 Keep
pressed during display and function tests.

The measuring unit currently set flashes once the display and
function test is complete.
