Axial roof fans EZD, DZD
EZD and DZD fans are used for ventilating
industrial sites, production areas, rooms, halls,
etc. MAICO is not responsible for any damage
caused when the fans are used for other than
the agreed purpose.
The fan is designed in accordance with VDE
safety requirements within the framework of the
equipment and product safety act as well as the
pertinent regulations laid down in the EC
directives.
Models
EZD ../B and ../D = AC unit, capacitor motor
G
having operating capacitors fitted in the
connection box, reversible.
EZD ../E AC unit, split-pole motor, non-rever-
G
sible.
DZD ../B 3-phase AC unit, reversible.
G
Air-stream direction/Rotational direction
Airstream direction for air extraction = standard
G
feature.
Airstream direction for supply air, upon request.
G
The air flow is reduced by approx. 35% when
G
operating in the reverse direction.
Airstream and rotational directions are indi-
G
cated by arrows on the housing.
Safety instructions
Read through this manual carefully and com-
G
pletely, prior to installing and commissioning
the fan.
Protection gloves must be worn without fail
G
during the installation and when carrying out
service work, in order to prevent any cuts
occurring due to sharp-edged metal plates.
Only qualified electricians are permitted to
G
undertake the electrical connections and any
repair work.
G
You are only permitted to operate the fan
when protection against accidental contact on
the inside of the impeller is guaranteed to be
in accordance with EN 294 (DIN 31001), e.g.
external grille SG... is fitted.
Pay attention to the permitted roof load – see
G
the current MAICO catalogue for the fan weight.
2
Motor
G
3-phase AC motors (DZD) are fitted with a
thermal overload protection as standard
feature – temperature sensors in the coils.
The connections are fed from voltage-free
tag-strips.
An exception is DZD 25/4D: an overload
protection with a "thermistor" type motor
protection switch must be guaranteed for
this motor and is to be supplied by the
customer.
G
AC motors (EZD) are fitted with a thermal
overload protection. If an overload occurs,
the thermal contact will switch off the motor
and will not start the motor again before it has
cooled down.
Technical Data
Technical data such as permitted airstream
G
temperature are specified on the manufac-
turer's identification plate or in the current
MAICO catalogue.
Installation
Roof sockets suitable for the shape and
G
slope of the roof have to be installed correctly.
This will ensure that the surface supporting
the fan is even, see the MAICO catalogue for
installation examples.
Fans, having suitable cables/chains secured
G
to both ring nuts, are to be hoisted into posi-
tion at the installation site by a crane. The
maximum permitted lifting capacity of the
hoisting equipment must be taken into con-
sideration without fail.
Fasten the fan in position by screwing it into
G
the roof sockets. The fastening materials
should already have been supplied by the
customer. It is important to guarantee safe
and permanent installation. Therefore only
use screws with a property class of minimum
4.8 according to DIN 267.
