can damage the product.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room into
a warm one. The condensation generated could destroy the product. Allow the
product to reach room temperature before using it. This may take several hours.
• Avoid taking measurements near strong magnetic and electromagnetic fields.
These may damage the device.
• In schools, educational facilities, hobby and DIY workshops, the product is to be
operated under the responsible supervision of qualified personnel.
b) Batteries
• Correct polarity must be observed while inserting the batteries.
• Batteries should be removed from the device if it is not used for a long period of
time to avoid damage through leaking. Leaking or damaged batteries might cause

OPERATION

a) Inserting/changing the batteries
• New batteries must be inserted when using the product for the first time or when the battery
symbol flashes on the display.
• Remove the cover (3). Turn the cover in an anticlockwise direction until it can be removed.
• To change used batteries, slide the batteries from the compartment one by one.
• Insert the new LR44 batteries into the battery compartment as shown above. Pay attention
to the polarity markings (+/-) in the battery compartment (5).
• Place the cover onto the thermometer and turn it clockwise until it is fully closed.
b) Measuring the temperature
Avoid taking measurements near electromagnetic fields.
• Point the IR sensor (1) at the object that you wish to measure and press the Meas. button (6).
Keep a measuring distance ratio (D:S = measuring distance:measurement area) of 1:1.
Example: At a distance of 2 cm (D), the measuring diameter is 2 cm (S Ø).
• The measured value is shown on the LCD display (7).
• Press the °C / °F button (2) to switch between °C (Celsius) and °F (Fahrenheit). The

press the button.
• If the measured temperature is not within the range of the IR thermometer, "HI" (above the

• The device turns itself off automatically after approx. 15 seconds to save battery power. If
you want to take another measurement, press the Meas. button again.
