3. Putting into operation
3.1 Battery
Your instrument is already supplied with a 9 V block battery in accordance with IEC 6LR61.
The battery status is indicated by a battery symbol on the display (see section 6)
3.2 Establishing contact with earth
Establish secure contact to the earthed rail with the contact clamp or
screw the universal clamp secure to earthed potential or
put the contact magnet on top of the rail.
The contact surface has to be clean and free from coarse rust.
3.3 Testing correct display and function (self-test)
Voltage testers must be checked if they function correctly, briefly
before and whenever possible after the use, for determining absence of voltage.
Step 1 – Test of the display
Press and hold button
LED lights up as well as a buzzer sound can be heard.
Release button
, the value "TEST" is indicated on the display.
Step 2 – Checking the line / function
Hold the test electrode on the earthed rail.
The value "Rdy" appears on the display.
At the same time, an acoustic signal is generated
and the green LED "O.K." lights up. Through this, the
overall functions have been tested.
Step 3 – Test of the voltage indication
Check the function of the voltage indication
at a known voltage source e.g. overhead line.
The three LEDs lights up and at the same time the voltage value is indicated on the display.
Attention!
If one of the displays fails during the self-test – even if only partial failure occurs – or if the instrument
does not indicate a function standby, the voltage tester may not be placed into operation!
Note:
Check the following, in case the function test was not successful:
- Is there a connection to the rail? (magnet positioned?)
- Battery empty?
- Test electrode screwed tightly?
Repeat the function test.
4. Measuring and testing
4.1 General information
The MultiSafe DSP 3TT36 does not switches on automatically.
For self-tests and voltage tests the device needs to be activated with the on-off switch.
Switch-off:
Press on-off switch until "oFF" is indicated.
Note:
The device switches off automatically after approx. 2 minutes when no voltage is applied.
The backlight switches-off after 5 seconds when no voltage is applied.
. All display segments light up on the display, additionally, the "O.K."
