button (Fig. G3) until a loud, intermittent alarm signal can be
heard (please also see the "Test/Maintenance" section). In the
event of any technical problems, please contact the manufacturer
or your local distributor.
• T he detector will switch off in a matter of seconds if it is removed
from its base.
Operation
The button (Fig. G3) has two functions:
• t o silence the alarm for approx. 8-9 minutes by briefly pressing the
button, either once the alarm has already been triggered or as a
precautionary measure to prevent the alarm from sounding. The
red LED (Fig. G2) will flash approx. every 10 seconds throughout
this period of 8-9 minutes. If the density of smoke is too high, the
alarm will be triggered again.
• t o test the detector by pressing and holding down the button until
a loud, intermittent alarm signal can be heard.
You can reset the device by removing the detector from the base
for 30 seconds.
Test/Maintenance
The test function can be used to carry out a full test on the device
in line with the EN 14604 standard, including a battery function test,
electronic smoke chamber test, electronics test, etc. A test should
be performed at least once a year in accordance with the current
local application standard for smoke detectors (e.g. the DIN 14676 in
Germany). To do this, press and hold down the button (Fig. G3) until
a loud, intermittent alarm signal (approx. 85 dB/3m) can be heard.
When necessary (usually about once a year), wipe the device with a
clean, dry cloth and carefully clean the outside with a vacuum cleaner.
Check to see whether there are any objects within a 0.5 m radius of
the device, as these may prevent smoke from entering the detector.
If this is the case, review the position of the device and, if necessary,
relocate the detector or remove the objects in question.
The detector continuously carries out an automatic self-test. Amongst
other things, this is used to test the electronics, the voltage and the
internal resistance of the battery, smoke chamber operation, etc. The
red LED (Fig. G2) will flash briefly approx. every 5 minutes to indicate
that the device is working correctly and that it is ready for use.
The smoke detector must be replaced if the device is subject to
mechanical damage or if the fault indication cannot be reset (and no
later than 10 years after the device has been commissioned). Please
note that the battery cannot be changed.
NB:
The detector may trigger the alarm if the device is exposed to
excessive amounts of dust or steam, for example.

Correct action in the event of a fire
Keep calm! Alert the fire service.
It is important that the fire service is told the following information:
• Your name (name, phone number)
• The location of the fire (address)
• What has happened (extent of fire)
• How many people are injured
• Then wait to see if the operator has any questions.
Alert all the people who live with you.
Help aged, sick and disabled persons.
Close all windows and doors.
Do not use lifts. If you have any doubts as to whether or not it is a
genuine alarm, still act as if there is a real fire.
