The Stiebel Eltron DHA instantaneous
water heater is a hydraulically-controlled
pressure appliance for the heating of cold
water in accordance with DIN 1988, with
which one or more tap points can be
supplied.
The built-in flow rate limiter
– keeps the flow rate constant during
pressure variations in the water distribu-
tion system and, as a result, the outlet
temperature constant;
– restricts the flow volume of and thus
guarantees a sufficient rise in the tempe-
rature of the water for domestic use,
also in winter.
DHA instantaneous water heaters are
suitable for water with a low lime content
owing to the tubular heating element (see
Tab. 2, functional range). Scaling may also
occur with water with a low lime content.
The heating flange should then be descaled.
Replacement flanges are available.
Operation of the appliance with pre-
heated water is not permissible.
In the case of installation of DHA
instantaneous water heaters in
the place of DHE or DHB S appliances,
the cross piece must also be replaced by
the 3 way shut-off appertaining to the
DHA (Fig. 3, No. 10, cold water side). If
this instruction is not followed, the DHA
could leak.
Special tap unit
(Special information about single hand
mixing units and thermostat tap units)
– Single hand mixing units and thermostat
tap units must be suitable for hydrauli-
cally-controlled instantaneous water
heaters (refer to the manufacturer's
information).
– Shower heads with low pressure loss
should be used.
– The flow pressure when using single hand
mixing units should be at least 3.5 bar
(3.0 bar without flow rate limiter).

Place of installation
The DHA is to be installed vertically as
shown Fig. 2 and as near to the tapping
points as possible.

– VDE 0100 (Installation of electrical
power installations with rated voltage up
to 1000 V).
– Specifications of the competent power
supply company.
– DIN 1988 (codes of practice for drinking
water installations).
– Specifications of the competent water
company.
– Mount the lower portion of the appli-
ance flush with the wall (see dimension
≥ 160 mm in Fig. 2). Secure the appliance
also at the bottom (Fig. 2, No. 6).
