d) Natural pressure release: Take if off the heat and leave it to cool down until the safety
valve indicator drops.
- Open the lid: check if the safety valve red indicator has dropped. Never open the lid until you
have made sure that the red indicator has dropped. How to open the lid: hold the upper and
lower handles with your right hand, press the button to release the pressure with the thumb of
your right hand (see fig. 11). Then hold the upper handle with your right hand, hold the lower
handle with your left hand and turn the cover counterclockwise until the ● mark on the lid is alig-
ned with the ● mark on the lower handle. Now remove the lid by lifting it straight upwards.
- Caution: never force the pressure cooker open when there is pressure inside it, to avoid damage
or getting hurt. Never open the lid facing towards your face, because there could still be very hot
steam inside the cooker.
