• Press the switch lock button (9) (Fig. E).
• Release pressure on switch button (8).
Switching off:
Press and release the on/off button (8).
Adjustment of the abrasive belt alignment (parallelism adjustment of
guide roller axes)
• Switch on the grinder.
• While the abrasive belt is moving, turn the adjusting knob of the
abrasive belt (5) (fig. F) so that the abrasive belt moves evenly
without any tendency to deviate to the sides (fig. G).
• If you allow the abrasive belt to move slowly towards the side of the
sander, (which means that the roller axes are not parallel) the belt will
quickly become damaged.
• When using the sander, make sure that the surface of the
abrasive belt and the surface of the workpiece are parallel. Hold
the auxiliary handle (1) and the base handle (7) firmly and move the
sander back and forth in a uniform manner.
• Do not press the sander too hard. The pressure should be
moderate and evenly distributed over the contact area between the
abrasive belt and the workpiece. Applying too much pressure to
the sander will result in abnormal decrease in sanding belt
speed, excessive heating of the motor, damage to the workpiece
and sander components. Use periodic breaks in operation.
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
Unplug the cord from the power outlet before attempting any installation,
adjustment, operation or repair of the power tool.
• Always keep the sander and its ventilation slots clean.
• Use a brush to remove the abrasive dust.
• Clean the grinder regularly, and preferably after each job.
• Do not use any abrasive objects to clean the sander.
• Use a soft cloth to clean the housing.
• Never use petrol, solvent or detergents for cleaning which could
damage the plastic parts of the sander.
• When work is finished, empty the dust bag and wash the bag itself in
warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
REPLACING THE DRIVE BELT
• If the drive belt is worn, the grinder does not work properly. The
drive belt must be replaced.
• Remove the dust bag.
• Loosen the drive belt cover retaining screw (4) with a screwdriver
and remove the cover.
• Remove the drive belt by sliding it off the drive wheels by turning
the wheels by hand.
• The installation of a new drive belt should be carried out as
follows:
• Fit the drive belt to the larger drive wheel.
• Slide the drive belt over the smaller drive wheel by turning the
wheels.
• Fit the drive belt guard (4) and tighten the retaining screw
• Ensure that the drive belt is correctly positioned on both drive wheels
ABRASIVE BELT INSPECTION
Since the performance of the same abrasive belt decreases over time, the
abrasive belt should be replaced as soon as excessive wear is noticed
REPLACEMENT OF CARBON BRUSHES
Worn (shorter than 5 mm), burnt or cracked carbon brushes of
the motor must be replaced immediately. Always replace both
brushes at the same time.
• Remove the dust bag.
• Unscrew the brush covers (2) (fig. H).
• Remove used brushes.
• Remove any carbon dust, using compressed air.
• Insert new carbon brushes (the brushes should slide freely
After replacing the brushes, start the grinder without load and
wait a little while until the brushes fit into the commutator of the
motor. It is advisable to replace the carbon brushes only by qualified
personnel using original parts.
Any defects should be rectified by the manufacturer's authorised service
department.
