3. Application notes

PHE3... voltage detectors consist of three or more elements,
namely a detachable insulating stick, a detachable test prod and,
if required, one or several extension handles (see also Fig. 2, page
5).
When using the PHE3... voltage detector, the following instruc-
tions must be observed >>> life hazard!<<<
The PHE3... voltage detector includes a device of category "S".
Voltage detector kits include a test prod of category "S".
"S" stands for switchgear.
Voltage detectors marked with "S" can be used for switchgear
installations and overhead lines.
The upper end (test electrode
of the PHE3... voltage detector is fitted with a toothed ring, al-
lowing safe contact with the part of the installation (see Fig. 3).
4. Assembly of PHE3... voltage detectors
The following single parts of the PHE3... voltage detector may
only be used as specified:
- Test electrode (optional)
- Test prod (integrated electrode with toothed ring)
- Indicator
- Adapter
- Insulating stick / insulating element / handle
- Extension handle
- End fitting
PHE3... voltage detectors must at least consist of the following
single parts:
- Test prod (integrated electrode with toothed ring)
- Indicator
- Insulating stick (consisting of inulating element /
handle)
