LIMITATIONS OF USE / SECURITY
4. How to select an anchor point:
According to EN 795, the anchor point (anchor de-
vice) for personal protective equipment against falls
from a height must be able to withstand a force of
12 kN and meet the requirements specified in the
user's guide of the fall protection system used. The
anchor point should always be located above the
user.
The connection between the harness and anchor
point must be suitable for the standard covering the
respective type of use and must have been certified
to it.
Fall arrest system (e.g., energy absorber to
EN 355, guided type fall arresters to EN 353-
1/2, retractable type fall arresters to EN 360)
Restraint system (e.g., lanyards to EN 354 or
EN 358)
Work positioning system (e.g., lanyards to
EN 354 or EN 358)
Rope access system (e.g., rope adjustment
device to EN 12841, rope to EN 1891)
It is crucial to safety to select the position of the
anchor point and the way how the work is done
such that the free fall and the height of a fall are
restricted to a minimum. It is crucial to safety to
ensure prior to any work assignment that there is
enough free space at the work site under the user
(prevention of an impact on the ground or on an
obstacle).
Flexible anchor lines must not be positioned across
sharp edges! Pendulum motions during falls
must be avoided by selecting a suitable anchor
point.
LIMITATIONS OF USE
Never carry out work with this product if, as a result
of your physical and mental condition,
your safety might be compromised in scenarios of
normal use or in emergencies!
It is not permitted to make any changes or amend-
ments that are not expressly described in this
manufacturer's information manual. Those may only
be carried out by the manufacturer.
It is not permitted to use permanent marker pens or
stickers to add individual labeling/marking directly
to the textile components of these products, as the
12
chemicals contained in such pens or stickers can
compromise the strength of these materials.
TO BE OBSERVED PRIOR TO USE
Prior to every use, the fall arrester with flexible an-
chor line must be subjected to a visual inspection
as well as a functional check in order to verify its
integrity, readiness for use and proper functioning.
(Possible malfunctions may be caused by soiled or
iced movable mechanical parts of the device).
To perform a functional test, the device is moved
upward at the guide rope and then loaded by pulling
sharply downward. The device has to lock at the
rope.
Once the product has been subject to a fall, its use
must be discontinued immediately. If the slightest
doubt remains, the product must be retired or may
not be used again until a duly compentent person,
having subjected such product to the required te-
sting and inspections, has approved its further use
in writing.
It must be ensured that the recommendations for
use with other components be met: Further PPE
components must meet the harmonized standards
under the regime of regulation (EU) 2016/425. By
combining pieces of equipment in a way that will
compromise the safe functioning of one of these
pieces of equipment or of the combination as a
whole, you will be putting yourself in danger!
Ensure all neighbouring components are compati-
ble. Ensure all components are correctly configured.
Failure to do so increases risk of serious injury or
fatality. It is the responsibility of the user that a re-
levant and 'live' Risk Assessment is in place for the
work to be carried out which includes emergency
contingencies.
A plan of rescue measures that covers all fore-
seeable emergencies needs to be in place before
this product can be used. Prior to and during use,
rescue measures that can be executed safely
and effectively must be considered at all times.
SUSPENSION TRAUMA
(HARNESS HANG SYNDROME)
Remaining suspended motionless in a harness for
longer periods of time (e.g., after having fainted)
may cause one's blood circulation to be restricted
and consequently lead to a so-called "suspension
trauma". MORTAL DANGER! Make an EMERGENCY
CALL immediately!
Possible signs of a suspension trauma are pallor,
