6.7 Backwashing the filter material

Avoid carrying sand abrasion into the basin when you first start it up.
So, the filter filling must be backwashed for this purpose. The backwash process should last about
4 minutes at start-up.
Rinsing equalises the filter bed and rinses any abrasive particles or dirt particles into the sewer.
To select another function of the backwash valve:
Always push the control lever down first and then move it, and only when the pump is switched off and
when using a 6-way valve.
If a bar valve is used, trigger the backwash via the filter control system.
Backwash filter system

Select valve function "Backwash".
•
Switch on the system. The filter filling is backwashed.
If you can only see clear water in the backwash valve inspection window or in the transparent backwash
section, the backwash process should continue for another 30 seconds.

Switch off the system. The backwashing process is finished.
•
Select the valve function "rinse" (when using a 6-way valve or rinse bar valve)
•
Switch on the system.
•
Completely ventilate the filter tank via the vent valve (1.6).
•
Switch off the system. After approx. 30 seconds. The rinsing process is finished.
•
Select valve function "Filter".
•
Open the shut-off valve into the pressure pipe.

NOTE
During start-up, water may leak in drops in between the pump housing and the
motor. Provide drainage for the leaked water.
Now make the pointer position on the manometer.
The pressure in the filter tank increases when the filter material is contaminated.
The filter system is now ready for use.
