General Operation
First, switch on the device via the on/off switch (7). The control indicator (13)
will light now.
If you do not see a picture, the video formats of your input sources and your
playback devices do possibly not comply with the setting of the quad proces-
sor. Change the operating mode between the NTSC video format and the PAL
video format by pressing the "NTSC/PAL" key (15) at the device. When doing
this, observe the technical data of the connected devices. Normally, the PAL
format is used in Europe.
Please note that independent of the following settings always a quar-
tered picture is output at the video recorder output (1).

• The control indicator (11) will light, if the quad mode is being activated.
• With the motion detection activated (see "Settings, Setting the motion detection
and sensitivity" on page 25) the playback automatically changes to the full-frame
mode, if a motion is registered at one input channel.
• To exit the quad mode you return to the full-frame representation of a single video
source (see above).

• Now, the representation changes between the inputs selected in the menu and the
quad mode in the time interval defined in the menu ("Auto sequence" option). Plea-
se also read "Setting the automatic channel switching" on page 26.
• To turn off the automatic channel switching change to another playback mode
(full-frame or quad).

Other settings:
By using this menu option you can define the settings for an audio alarm signal (buz-
zer), the mirroring of a video channel (mirror) and the representation of a border aro-
und a channel window (border).
Select the "Other" entry via the up/down keys and confirm your selection by pressing
the menu key.
• Select the menu item to be set via the up/down keys.
• Use the "+"/"-" keys to determine the properties of the item to be set.

To save your entries and to exit this function press the menu key and keep it pressed
for about 2 seconds. The screen representation changes to the playback mode.
Lock of the operating keys against unintentional activation:
By means of this function you can lock all operating keys apart from the menu keys
(17).
Select the "Key Lock" entry with the up/down keys. Use the "+"/"-" keys to turn on
the key lock.
To deactivate the key lock press the menu key and set the entry back to "Off".
To exit the menu press the menu key and keep it pressed for about 2 seconds.
The screen representation changes to the playback mode.
