Before starting

Electromagnetic compatibility
The product is intended for operation in an industrial environment (EMC Class A).
Ensure that the setup of your automation system complies with EMC requirements as described in the Documentation
(https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/ps/26201/man) for the product.
Electrical safety
For the power supply, the following applies additionally:
WARNING
Connection of the power supply
Only qualified personnel are permitted to connect the power supply. Pay special attention to information in the
Documentation (https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/ps/26201/man) and on the nameplate of the device.
Note
The power supply must be connected by the operator/user in accordance with the national regulations regarding installation.
The following applies to all modules:
WARNING
Danger from voltage/current!
Only perform assembly and disassembly work when the device is de-energized.
Set up products with IP54 degree of protection according to IEC 60529 only in enclosures, cabinets or electrical equipment
rooms suitable for the end application.
Safety in hazardous areas
If the device is intended for use in hazardous areas (gas-air or gas-dust mixture), note the specific details in the
Documentation (https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/ps/26201/man).
You can recognize that the device is intended for use in hazardous areas from the Ex marking in the EC Declaration of
Conformity, in the associated certificate or on the nameplate.
Note
As a rule, country-specific requirements for the operator also apply when a product is used in a potentially explosive
atmosphere (e.g. Directive 1999/92/EC for the EU).
WARNING
Plugging or unplugging an assembly is prohibited in the hazardous area
If you plug or unplug a module or connector during operation, there is a risk of sparking. Sparking can cause an explosion in
the hazardous area, resulting in death or serious injury and damage to property.
Do not plug or unplug the assembly or connectors until one of the following two conditions is met: The area is no longer at
risk of explosion or the device and its plug connections are de-energized.
