Die Steuerung eines RC-Gleitschirms
geschieht primär über die Steuerleinen,
auch Bremsleinen genannt, weil sie den
Schirm auf der jeweiligen Seite anbrem-
sen.
Steuerst du links, so muss sich die linke
Hinterkante des Schirms herunterziehen.
Dies bewirkt dort einen höheren
Luftwiderstand, so dass der Schirm in
diese Richtung gezwungen wird. Durch
die Drehung um die Hochachse pendelt
der Pilot nun nach außen und das ganze
System legt sich in die Kurve.
Werden beide Bremsen gleichzeitig
betätigt, erhöht sich der Luftwiderstand
auf beiden Seiten gleichmäßig und der
Schirm fliegt langsamer. Je nach Modell
erhöht sich dabei aber auch der Auftrieb
ganz erheblich, so dass es sinnvoll
sein kann, in bestimmten Situationen
leicht angebremst zu fliegen.

The control of an RC paraglider is
primarily performed by using the control
lines, also called brake lines, because
they brake the glider on the respective
side.
If you steer left, the left trailing edge of
the glider is pulled down which causes
a higher drag there, so that the glider
is forced in this direction. Due to the
rotation around the vertical axis the pilot
now swings outwards and the whole
system turns into the curve.
If both brakes are applied at the same
time, the drag on both sides increases
equally and the glider flies more slowly.
Depending on the model, however, this
also increases the lift quite considerably,
so that it can be useful to fly with a
slight braking in certain situations.
