5 Construction and function
5.1 Summary and functional description
The Oventrop "Flypass set" DN 32 consists of:
– two ball valves DN 32 made of dezincification re-
sistant brass (for supply and return)
– one ball valve DN 25 made of dezincification resistant
brass (for the bypass)
– one pressure independent control valve "Cocon QTZ"
with fill and drain ball valve
– one strainer with fill and drain ball valve
– two fill and drain ball valves located on the sides of
the set
The "Flypass set" is used for temperature control of
terminal units or sections of the systems, such as chil-
led ceiling, fan coil or convector systems with the help
of actuators and temperature controllers and for hy-
dronic balancing.
The "Flypass set" is also used for the isolation, flus-
hing, draining and bleeding of the supply and return
pipe installed in the flow direction in front of the set or
of the succeeding sections of the system. The "Flypass
set" can be converted to bypass operation.

6 Installation
The "Flypass set" must only be installed into a clean
pipework system and must only be operated with a
clean unpolluted fluid. Installation is possible in any
orientation (horizontal, oblique or vertical, in ascending
or descending sections). The direction of flow has to
conform to the direction of the arrows on the bodies
of the components.
The wire basket of the strainer should point downwards
so that dirt particles may gather in it. If the pressure
independent control valve "Cocon QTZ" is equipped
with an actuator and the connection thread M 30 x 1.5
of the „Cocon QTZ" valve points downwards, it has
to be checked whether the actuator may be installed
in a vertical downward position.
Any tension which could be transferred through the
pipework must be avoided.
Observe warning advice under paragraph 2
(safety notes)!
!
CAUTION
– Do not use any lubricant or oil when installing the
valve as these may destroy the seals. If necessary,
all dirt particles and lubricant or oil residues must
be removed from the pipework by flushing the
latter.
– When choosing the operating fluid, the latest
technical development has to be considered (e.g.
VDI 2035).
– Please protect against external forces (e.g.
impacts, vibrations etc.).
After installation, check all installation points for leaks.
7 Operation
7.1 Bleeding the system
Before commissioning, the installation has to be filled
and bled with due consideration of the permissible
operating pressures.
7.2 Correction factors for mixtures of water and
glycol
The correction factors of the manufacturers of the
antifreeze liquids have to be considered when setting
the flow.
