ENGLISH – HF500-Cotag Hands-Free reader
Setup
1. After the installation, you can power it up
and test it.
2. Activate the test mode by setting, on the
CONFIG switches; both switch 1 and 2 up
(ON). This makes the reader bleep when
it reads any card.
3. After testing the Reader, make sure
switches 1 and 2 are down (OFF).
4. If you want the Reader to bleep when it
reads a valid card, set switch 4 up (ON).
Since the Reader reads cards without them
being in contact with the reader, it will read
the card as long as the card is in the transmit
range field. The Reader is however
programmed not to read the same card within
5 seconds, the Rdd time (Repeat data delay).
This time is pre-programmed, but can be

Reducing the transmit range of
the HF500-Cotag
You can reduce the transmit range of the
HF500-Cotag to 50% by cutting the link which
is across the resistor labelled R2 on the
circuit board (do not cut R2 itself).
Position of transmit range link on the circuit
board. The link is attached to two pins, which
raise it above the circuit board so it is very
easy to cut.
