8.7 Operating the safety storage cabinet without industrial ven-
tilation
The safety storage cabinet can be operated in accordance with national regulations
without industrial ventilation. Labelling through notice!
If an explosive atmosphere is to be expected, measures must be taken
in compliance with national regulations and an explosion protection
document must be drawn up.
NOTICE!
– Determine the hazardous area in accordance with the hazardous
substance regulations under all possible operating conditions and
label it clearly, visibly and permanently.
– It is prohibited to handle naked flames or to smoke in areas at risk
of explosion.
– Do not use any spark-generating tools in areas at risk of explosion.
– Ensure that no electrostatic charges can form in areas at risk of
explosion and that no equipment is operated that has surface tem-
peratures above the ignition temperatures of the stored, flammable
liquids.
– Only operate electrical equipment in areas at risk of explosion if
they comply with the requirements of European standards, such as
DIN EN VDE.
Also note the following points from national regulations:
Safety storage cabinets without industrial ventilation should, in case of fire, protect

the stored goods from impermissible heating and ignition of possibly occurring explo-
sive mixtures.
There must be no ignition sources inside the safety storage cabinet. If this cannot be
n
fully prevented, depending on the risk assessment, measures must be taken to avoid
ignition sources. As a minimum requirement, the measures taken must be in accord-
ance with those designated for Zone 2 areas as defined in the applicable national
technical regulations, such as TRGS 727 in Germany.
Safety storage cabinets without industrial ventilation must be earthed with equipoten-

tial bonding.
Clearly label the Zone 2 potentially explosive area according to national accident pre-
vention regulations with the following warning symbol:
The size of all symbols and notices should be appropriate for the size of the safety
storage cabinet.
