Digging out the excavations
The size of the excavations must include at least 50 cm
all round the outside of the tank as working space.
Excavate the slope angle β according to the in-situ soil
requirements.
Place subbase layer consisting of 30 cm deep compacted
crushed stone (0-16 mm grading range; 97% D
Place a levelling layer of sand (3-10 cm).
Influence zone of adjacent foundations:
Minimum distance from foundations (a = distance
between bottom edge of the chamber and bottom edge of
the foundation a = ΔH x 1.73).
4.5
Positioning and connecting the tank
Position and align the tank as described in the transport instruction.
Connect the inlet and outlet pipe.
Install the lip seals, upper sections and cover plates to ensure protection during the construction period. Ensure that the
upper section is level with the planned ground level.
Wastewater pipes and fittings made of the following materials may be connected to the inlet and outlet of the separator:
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U)
Polyethylene (PE)
Polypropylene (PP)
The following technical instructions must be followed:
The inlet and outlet must be laid with gravity flow.
The inlet and outlet pipes must be laid at a frost-free depth.
The inlet pipe should be connected to the downpipe with two 45° bends. A stilling section with length equal to approx. 10
times the diameter of the inlet pipe should be included in the design.
The inlet pipe must be routed additionally above the roof as a ventilation pipe. If the inlet pipe is laid over more than 10m
(horizontally), a further ventilation pipe must be attached near the separator.
Do not make any additional connections to the tank.
Perform a leak test on the connections before back filling the excavations.
Do not drill into the tank!
Do not attach any additional inlets or outlets.
4.6
Leak test
Remove the temporary protective cover from the tank (multiple tanks if applicable).
Fit the seal and grease the sealing lip (inside).
Install the upper sections.
Fill the tank with clean water up to the top of the upper section. Leave the clean water in the tank for the backfilling.
Check the tank(s), connections and connection pipes for leaking water.
If necessary, make the system leak tight.
After a successful leak test, fit the cover plates.
If necessary, repeat the procedure for an other upper section.
4.7
Backfill the excavations
CAUTION
Note the structural calculations for traffic safety. Chamber installation for load class D requires a load distribution
plate made of reinforced concrete.
Determine the required load class and structural calculations in accordance with the environment / use condi-
tions.
Request an appropriate reinforcement drawing from the KESSEL hotline.
Adjust the upper section to the final height (note the minimum insertion depth and shorten if necessary)
